Forrest has been here since last August โ€” and since he returned from foster, weโ€™ve noticed the kennel is starting to dim that spark in his eye. Heโ€™s not a shelter dog at heart. Heโ€™s a home dog. He proved that in foster care, where he was calm, sweet, and completely trustworthy โ€” good with dogs, good with kids of all ages, good with farm animals. This boy checked every box.

He loves water. Give him a puddle, a kiddie pool, or a sprinkler and he is living his best life. Heโ€™s also a world-class snuggler (frequently upside down), a dedicated stuffie-tosser, and the kind of dog who will follow you from room to room just to be near you.

Kennel life isnโ€™t made for a dog like Forrest. A home is. And he already knows how to be great in one.

Hybrid is goofy, loving, and has more heart than he knows what to do with โ€” and that might actually be the problem. When someone comes to meet him, he loses his mind with excitement because he just wants so badly to be chosen. We think that energy has scared people off. But hereโ€™s what those people missed: thatโ€™s not a red flag. Thatโ€™s a dog who has never known a stable home, never had a person to call his own, and is absolutely desperate to love someone. He is a good boy. He has always been a good boy. And 240 days in a shelter is starting to dim a spark that deserves to shine. He needs laps, laughs, and someone who will show up for him every single day โ€” and he will give you everything he has in return. He shares a fence with male and female dogs during outside time and does great, so he may do well with a dog in the home โ€” meet and greet required. Fair warning: heโ€™s got hops that would impress your neighbors, but a long lead or outside supervision handles that just fine.

A huge thank you to Girl Scouts Troop 3706 for showing up for the animals in the most heartfelt way!

These amazing young women recently donated handmade cat scratchers, cat and dog rope toys, AND a beautiful sign sharing all the reasons why declawing isnโ€™t the answer โ€” and we are absolutely blown away!

The animals at Morgan County Humane Society are already loving the new toys, and that sign? Itโ€™s exactly the kind of thoughtful, compassionate message we love sharing with our community.

To the girls of Troop 3706 and the adults who guide them โ€” thank you for teaching the next generation that animals matter and that kindness is always worth the effort. ๐Ÿพ
