Senior boy Ernie is looking for a patient and understanding person who can help him learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. ❤️
Ernie is frightened of new people, as well as leashes and collars.
Ernie will need a calm home with someone willing to give him plenty of time, patience, and positive training. He’ll also need regular grooming and help becoming comfortable with being handled so that his coat doesn’t become matted again.

Ernie may need a little extra understanding, but helping a scared senior dog finally feel safe would be incredibly rewarding. If you think you could be the patient person Ernie needs, please send us a message. Madison County Animal Services - NC 💜

Summer Peach got a much-needed break from the shelter and joined some of our wonderful staff members while they ran a few errands! She enjoyed a nice ride out to the landfill, curled up into the cutest little hound ball, and soaked up plenty of love from her shelter friends. Even though her adventure was short, she truly enjoyed getting away for a bit! 🥰
This gorgeous girl could really use a longer foster break or, even better, an adopter!
Summer Peach is as sweet as they come, but shelter life just isn’t for this Treeing Walker Coonhound. She’s easy to harness, walks nicely on leash, and has already made several furry friends in shelter playgroup. She absolutely LOVES other dogs and would thrive in a home with another canine companion!
Summer Peach is also a talented escape artist, so she’ll need a tall, secure fence to keep her safe.

Meet Deputy Do Right! 🐾

Deputy Do Right is a very friendly, playful puppy who is going to be a very big boy when he’s fully grown! He loves being petted and playing with his stuffed toys. He seems unfamiliar with walking on a leash, but he’s a fast learner and is already making progress.

He’s also dog-friendly, although he can be a little shy when first meeting a new canine friend. Once he feels comfortable, his playful puppy personality shines through!

Ma Barker got to run errands with one of her volunteer besties, and she was the sweetest little sidekick! 🥰

Ma is a gentle senior gal who is 8 years old and weighs 43 pounds. She walks well on a leash and would thrive in a calm, peaceful home where she can relax and enjoy plenty of love.
She seems cat-friendly and could likely live with another mellow dog, but a real playful pup would likely be too much for her.

Meet Grand Torino!❤️

Grand Torino is 2 years old, weighs 44 pounds, and is the perfect medium size! He loves people, enjoys affection, and is always happy to spend time with his human friends.
He is incredibly smart, eager to learn, and picks up new things quickly. Grand Torino has participated in a few doggy playgroups, but so far, he seems more interested in the people than the other dogs. He is still the new kid on the block, though, so we will continue getting to know him and seeing how he does!
One thing is certain: Grand Torino absolutely loves his human friends and would be thrilled to find a foster or loving home of his own.

We are in CRITICAL need of non-clumping clay cat litter (generic kind is fine) and canned cat food (poultry and beef only, no fish please!) to care for the 50 plus kittens in our shelter and in our foster homes! It takes a village to get through “kitten season” and if you can’t volunteer or foster this is a great way to help! (Amazon link in comments but clay litter is much cheaper at Walmart/Tractor Supply and some offer free delivery.) Our address is 389 Long Branch Rd Marshall, NC 28753.
