I have moved my office to an old farm house, joining services with another veterinarian

We are located at
895 Gabriels Creek Road, Mars Hill NC 28754

Because of Helene, we have been given the go ahead by the Veterinary Board to open before the remodeling is completed.

I will be offering all modalities eventually but am ready to go with Acupuncture and Homeopathy!

Please text 828-545-3509 for an appointment

This shows flooding 15 feet above normal in the town of Marshall, NC. We are expecting 19 feet!
My office is on the river side of the cluster of 3 pink buildings (below the red one) to the right of the bridge. Because Marshall lies in a narrow valley, the water rises instread of spreading laterally!
The water has flooded the island at the lower left already. This is a storm pattern in position for the last 30 hours and the effects of Helene aren’t due for another 24!

Taurine is an important amino acid for many functions in the body. The recent debates over DCM and diet have highlighted the importance of taurine for heart function. Head over to my blog to read more on why our pets need taurine and how to supply it through diet and supplementation.

Another vet on FB posted this
He’s seeing Kidney failure on dogs fed Jerky Treats

“FYI.. public service announcement.. fanconi in a dog that was on jerky treats for a week! Made in china! Put word out! No chicken jerky from china!!”

Hint: if you want to switch to me as your primary vet, don’t start with a list of reasons why you didn’t bring your dog in in February and the problems you’ve had keeping them stable on traditional heart therapies.
1) I’m a solo practitioner. I’m NOT available 24/7
2) I might have other patients who are more critical than yours and they’re getting my attention
3) I do NOT do diagnostics. I cooperate with another vet and sometimes she’s over scheduled and can not see your pet who technically is not a patient of hers
4) I believe there are many things which contribute to a dis-ease state. I will ask you to discontinue many Western treatments like flea and tick meds or vaccinations. When your pet is better, maybe you’ll decide to restart them. Or not
5) I’m wacko crazy holistic. My best owners are too!

💊 While dogs can suffer from depression and anxiety, is it a good idea to medicate them?

Here are the side effects of the common antidepressant, Trazodone:

⛔ Increased Aggression
⛔ Hyperactivity
⛔ Abnormal Heartbeat
⛔ Difficulty Breathing Or Shallow Respiration
⛔ Tremors Or Seizures
⛔ Gastrointestinal Upset with nausea or vomiting
⛔ Ataxia (Loss Of Muscle Control)
⛔ Liver Or Kidney Damage From Long-Term Use

Are you surprised that some side effects are behavioral issues❓

Instead of medicating your dog, try these herbs and supplements. They can help address the underlying causes of your pet’s mental health issues without the side effects associated with Trazodone.

🌿 ST. JOHNS WORT
This herb contains key compounds that can help alleviate symptoms of mild to moderate depression and anxiety.

🌿 LAVENDER
Lavender is a great natural remedy to help soothe your pup’s anxiety or insomnia.

🌿 VALERIAN ROOT
Valerian Root is an herb that has been used in traditional medicine to help treat anxiety and improve sleep quality.

🌿 PASSIONFLOWER
This can be made into a tea as an easy and effective way of providing your dog with its calming benefits.

🌿 CBD OIL
CBD helps your dog relax, reduce stress and even improve sleep.

🌿 OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS
Omega-3 fatty acids, such as docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), are beneficial for mental health disorders.

🌿 B VITAMINS
These are essential vitamins in energy production, brain function, and mood regulation. Supplementing with specific B vitamins, such as B6, B12, and folic acid can be beneficial in treating depression.

🌿 MAGNESIUM
This helps regulate brain function and is often used to treat anxiety and insomnia.

🌿 ZINC
Zinc is an important mineral for many processes in the body and is thought to help regulate mood. It’s also beneficial in treating depression.

Why your dog or cat needs to detox...

Your animals are exposed to chemicals and substances which greatly impede their metabolism. These disruptive toxicants are hormone disruptors causing thyroid imbalance as well as affecting all the other endocrine organs.

Many caring pet parents choose better species specific diets, but see no results in their overweight or hypothyroid animals. They diligently give their pets the medications and supplements prescribed by trusted veterinarians with no noticeable results.

Why is nothing happening in this scenario?

Because toxicants are clogging up the works, so to speak.

Toxicants create inflammation throughout the body and damage the hormones which regulate appetite. As an example, the hormone leptin, which communicates to the brain when the tummy is full, can be blocked by heavy metals. So, the appetite is never satiated, balanced or complete. Excess weight is the result, further hindering overall health.
