🐾❤️ HAPPY NATIONAL PIT BULL AWARENESS DAY! ❤️🐾

Today we're celebrating the big smiles, goofy personalities, wiggly bodies, and endless love that make Pit Bulls so special!

At the Marion Area Humane Society, we know that every dog deserves to be seen as an individual, not judged by a label, a stereotype, or the way they look.

Our Pit Bull friends come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and personalities. Some are silly couch potatoes, some are energetic adventure buddies, some are professional kiss-givers, and some just want a quiet place to curl up beside their favorite human. But they all have one thing in common: they deserve a chance. 💯

Behind every face in this collage is a unique story, a personality waiting to shine, and a heart full of potential.

Let's celebrate responsible ownership, education, compassion, and giving every dog the opportunity to show the world who they really are.

Breed stereotypes can cost dogs their lives. Dogs labeled as Pit Bulls can face additional barriers when it comes to housing, insurance, adoption, and finding families. Many wonderful dogs wait longer simply because of a label.

Don't judge the breed. Get to know the dog.
Choose compassion over stereotypes.
Adopt, foster, advocate, and educate.

Here's to the Pit Bulls who steal our hearts, make us laugh, take up the whole couch, and remind us every day that love comes in all shapes and sizes!

🎶 You ain't nothing but a Tucker dog, crying all the time… 🎶🐶❤️

Okay, maybe we changed the lyrics a little, but we have a pretty special hound dog who is hoping to sing his way right into your heart!

Meet TUCKER! 🐾

Tucker is a handsome 5-year-old boy who is ready to find a family to call his own. He was surrendered through absolutely no fault of his own. Unfortunately, his owner became ill and was no longer able to care for him. Now Tucker is hoping someone will give him the second chance he deserves.

Because Tucker loves to use his voice, he would do best in a home setting where his singing can be appreciated. Who needs a radio when you have Tucker to serenade you every day? 😂❤️

Tucker didn't choose to find himself in a shelter, but he sure hopes his next stop will be a forever home!

🐶 ARIES – Pit Mix
Aries came to us with severe skin issues that require ongoing care, attention, and treatment. Her road to feeling better takes time, but we're committed to making sure this girl gets everything she needs to heal and feel her best. ❤️

🐶 COOKIE – Pit Mix
Sweet Cookie has been dealing with ongoing allergy issues, but we're happy to report she's making GREAT progress! Her hair is growing back, and we're loving watching her skin heal. One step at a time, Cookie! 🥰

🐶 BOOMER – Small Mix Breed
Our little Boomer is having a hard time adjusting to shelter life. He's scared in this environment, and we truly believe getting him into a foster home could make all the difference. He needs a quiet, loving place where he can decompress, feel safe, and let his personality shine. Could you be the safe place Boomer needs? 🏡❤️

🐶 RUFUS – Pit Mix
Rufus recently made a trip to the vet for allergy issues. He's now on several medications, and we're working to figure out exactly what he's allergic to so we can get him some relief. This handsome boy deserves to feel comfortable in his own skin!

Hi, I'm Rocky! I'm a 62-pound bundle of fun, chaos, and questionable decisions (mostly involving tug ropes). I'm about a year and a half old, and I've got ENOUGH energy to power a small village.

I'm a professional tug-of-war champion, expert playtime enthusiast, and certified good boy. I love other dogs, I'm great with kids, and I think having a family to play with would be pretty much the best thing EVER!

I'm looking for an active family with room for me to run, play, zoom, and show off my impressive collection of goofy antics. I'm a little nervous around cats, but I haven't shown any aggression toward them here at the shelter, so I may be able to share my home with a feline friend with proper introductions.

I've been waiting at the shelter for about 5 MONTHS now, and I'm starting to think my forever family got lost on the way here. Somebody come get this big goofball! I promise to bring the fun, the laughs, and approximately 62 pounds of unconditional love.
