What do we learn in Obedience 1?
One of the biggest things you will learn in Obedience is that training is not as time consuming as you think, your dog is way smarter than you can possibly imagine, and training is super fun for both of you!

The skills we work on for your dog are
Attention
✨Sit, down, stay, come
✨Heel, Side, Front positions
✨Loose Leash Walking
✨Leg Weave, spin, turn, backup
and much more!

The skills we work on for you are:
💫How to use a clicker or reward marker
💫Leash handling skills
💫Keeping your dog from becoming treat dependent
💫Dog body language
💫Building good training habits

🐾🐾We train for good manners, consistency, and daily life! 🐾🐾

This is an all too common problem. We accidentally teach our puppies that going to the bathroom in front of us is scary. They start to potty and we yell NO!!! scoop them up and run outside with them. This tells the puppy that going to the bathroom in front of us is scary.
It's better to prevent accidents and predict pottytimes.
✨Leash your puppy to your waist and take them with you everywhere you go in your house.
✨Always keep them in your site for any off leash freetime they get.
✨REWARD every potty done outside and take them out on a frequent schedule.
✨Know the times they will need to potty and stay ahead of it. EX: when they wake up, after a big play session, 20 minutes after eating.
✨Start giving them a little freedom after they successfully go outside!

What is the STAR Puppy class?
The training class is an 8 week long course for dogs ages 8-weeks to 1-year old. What you learn in class helps you accomplish the goal of completing 20 important items required by the AKC.
It stands for:
💫S socialization--example: Dog allows petting by someone other than the owner (item 12)
💫T training--Sit, down, and follow along with owner on leash (items 14, 16, 17)
💫A activity--Making an Exercise Plan (Item 3)
💫R responsible owner--Show proof your pooch has vet care (item 1)

The result of doing this training?
✨Your first AKC Title
✨Bonding with your new dog
✨Building good training habits (for you)
✨Learning that training is fun (for you and your dog)
✨Having a well behaved best pal (for everyone!)

A tale as old as time.
✨Barking is a self rewarding behavior. In your dog's mind, they actually think they made the delivery man go away by barking at them. They have picked a job for themselves as your "home security system" and they believe they are very successful at their job.
✨Yelling at your dog as they are barking at the window leads them to believe......"I'm yelling, you're yelling, we're all yelling!!! See I knew that delivery guy was bad."
✨The more "practice" they get at barking things away the more often they will do it.
