Whenever I go to the bathroom, these two have to follow me in there. I used to call it a family meeting, but then I realized that whenever they go outside to p*e, I follow them out there. It’s just dog logic, we watch each other p*e. 🤷‍♀️

People have wondered why I would breed a “perfectly wonderful german shepherd” with a husky (aka in their minds as an energetic, hard to train breed). No offense to Georgie, a wonderful girl, but here’s how they reacted to their first bike ride:

Indy on our bike ride: perfect, heels right at my side, doesn’t pull. Sees a bunny and stays on track. Responds to every little change in direction, turning around with no issues.

Georgie on our bike ride: poops in someone’s yard, sees a dog and pulls me over, can’t grasp the concept of turning. Embarasses me in front of a busy outdoor restaurant by not yielding to my signals and making me crash and scream in front of people.

When Indy was a puppy, I asked my mom if she thought she would be as good as Georgie. She said “no, she will be even better.” I didn’t believe her, because Georgie is the best dog ever and hard to beat. Indy is striving for that title. The husky in her makes her smart, capable, and quite a character. I wouldn’t breed more purebreds if someone asked me to, because the best of both worlds is present in these dogs.

Edit: Indy has also been helping me in 4H this summer, being a perfect demo-dog so I can show kids how to train their dogs!

This should be fun! I’m looking for dog owners interested in a holiday gift exchange. Doesn’t matter where you live in the U.S. - you are welcome to join! You have to buy one gift valued at least $10 and send it to your secret dog. Your dog will receive 6-36 gifts in return. And the great thing is you can keep them or donate them! A present will brighten their day (and the owners too). We could all use some happy mail.
