Most pet owners make this mistake without even knowing it. Doing it wrong can make things much worse.

✅ The Vet-Approved Tick Removal Method:
1️⃣ Grasp as close to the skin as possible
2️⃣ Pull straight and even — no twisting
3️⃣ Clean & disinfect the area immediately
4️⃣ Monitor closely for symptoms

❌ NEVER use heat, Vaseline, or crush the tick body — this can release toxins directly into your pet's bloodstream.

⚠️ VETERINARY ALERT: Rat poison pellets found at a Santa Clara park — and a dog paid the price. 🐶🚨

A dog ingested 14 suspected rat poison pellets at Jenny Strand Park in Santa Clara, became seriously ill, and had to vomit out the poison. Thankfully, the dog is expected to recover — but this is a stark reminder of how quickly a park visit can turn dangerous. 🌿☠️
Part of the park was immediately closed while city crews conducted thorough sweeps. Officials confirmed the city does NOT use poison for pest control in parks — meaning someone placed these pellets deliberately. Police are now investigating. 🚔

What rat poison does to dogs:
🔴 Causes internal bleeding
🔴 Affects the nervous system
🔴 Can lead to seizures & organ failure
🔴 Symptoms may not appear immediately — making it even more dangerous

Stay alert on every walk:
🐾 Watch what your dog sniffs or eats on the ground
🐾 Look for small green, blue or tan pellets
🐾 Keep your dog on a short leash in public parks
🐾 If ingestion is suspected — rush to your vet immediately
Time is critical. Don't wait for symptoms. 🏃💨🩺
