It’s been a very busy season at the shelter! With an overwhelming number of animals needing help, our team has been working hard to keep up — and we couldn’t do it without incredible support.

The KSU Shelter Medicine team has been a huge help, completing spay/neuter surgeries for both our shelter pets and animals from across the region. And thanks to generous community partners like Buffalo Wild Wings, these hardworking veterinary students have been fueled with lunch during their long days of service.

We’re so grateful for the support that helps us care for more animals in need!💙🐾

🤩Help welcome Dr. Stueve to the Prairie Paws team!🤩
We are so excited to have a full-time Veterinarian helping to achieve our mission. Read what our Ottawa friends had to say about this milestone for our shelter pets.

💜💜It's been an impactful first week for the newest member of our team: Dr. Sarah Stueve!💜💜

Dr. Stueve gained her DVM from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and is bringing over 8 years of experience to this role, and wow has she hit the ground running.

Dr. Stueve is the very first full-time veterinarian employed by Prairie Paws and will oversee the health of all of our animals, at all three of our locations. She will also perform spay/neuter surgeries for our low-cost spay/neuter clinics, our shelter pets and our TNR program. She has already completed two huge days of surgery at Prairie Paws Animal Shelter - Manhattan KS in her first week!

It's a truly enormous workload so we will still be continuing our existing partnership with the 4th year veterinary students, as well as utilizing the incredible veterinary clinics in our communities. It truly takes a village to accomplish all that we do, and we are so thankful to have Dr. Stueve joining our mission to provide compassionate care and placement for animals in need.

Please welcome Dr. Stueve in the comments and thank her for bringing her skills to our organization and our pets!
