We know everyone wants an update on Sweetie.

Unfortunately, it isn’t the one we were hoping to share.

Tomorrow, Sweetie leaves her cozy foster home and enters a boarding kennel because no one has stepped up for her. 💔

The hardest part? She’s doing so well.

She hasn’t had a single accident. She’s settling in beautifully with separation from the resident dogs while she prepares for cherry eye surgery. All she wants is love, attention, and a soft place to sleep.

As we watch the current urgent list, we see dogs that could become future P3 dogs. We want so badly to say “yes.” But we can’t responsibly bring another dog into rescue until Sweetie is covered. Our commitment is first to the dogs already counting on us. That’s the promise we made when we rescued them.

Fostering Sweetie doesn’t just save her life—it opens the door for us to save another.

Rescuing pups is a labor of love ❤️

Every week, local shelters release an urgent list of dogs that are out of time and at risk of euthanasia. Behind every dog that makes it to safety is an entire network of shelter staff, volunteers, transporters, fosters, and rescue organizations working together to give them the second chance they deserve.

At Peace of Mind K9 Rescue, we do everything we can to save as many lives as possible. But we're a small rescue, and every decision has to be made carefully. Our funding is limited, and whenever possible, we strive to place dogs directly into foster homes so they can begin healing in a safe, loving environment from day one.

Because of our incredible foster families and supporters, we've been fortunate to watch so many of these dogs find the happy endings they deserve. We still have a few amazing pups waiting for their perfect match—Havana and Brisco are patiently hoping their families are out there.

And today, we're celebrating a huge win. ❤️

Last month, we pulled three dogs from one of those urgent euthanasia lists. We're thrilled to share that Scout and Patrick have officially been adopted by their foster families! There is nothing better than seeing a foster family fall in love and decide they can't imagine life without the dog they saved.

Our third rescue, Thomas, is still searching for his forever family. While we know his perfect match is out there, he's happy, safe, and loved by his wonderful foster family until that day comes.

To everyone who fosters, adopts, donates, shares our posts, or cheers these dogs on from afar—thank you. You are the reason these stories have happy endings. Every share, every donation, and every open home helps us save the next dog on that urgent list.

⏰ 32 dogs must leave by Monday, July 21 at 6:00 PM.

This is one of those weeks when we truly need our entire community.

Thirty-two dogs are now on the urgent list—not because of behavior or medical concerns, but simply because the shelter is out of space.

We haven't seen a list this large since March, and overcrowding has been a constant challenge ever since. Every kennel matters right now.

As we work to gather photos, notes, videos, and more information on each dog over the coming days, please don't wait to help.

If you've been thinking about adding a dog to your family, we encourage you to adopt directly from the shelter or consider one of the wonderful dogs already in rescue.

Many rescue dogs are living in foster homes, so their rescuers can often tell you if they're good with kids, cats, other dogs, house-trained, and more. Every time a rescue dog is adopted, it opens a foster home or kennel that can be used to save one of these urgent shelter dogs.

Every adoption creates another opportunity to save a life.

🚨 Brisco Needs a Hero! 🚨

Brisco is a 4-year-old American Bulldog who was rescued from the shelter just moments before euthanasia. Now he's safe, but what he really needs is a forever home.

This sweet boy loves tug, snuggles, time outside, and being close to his people. He'll even keep you laughing with the adorable little "piggy sounds" he makes while he plays. ❤️

Brisco would do best as the only dog in the home while he continues to build confidence with structure, consistency, and love. We know that with the right person by his side, he will make an incredible companion.

While everyone falls in love with puppies (and we do too!), we never want to forget the incredible dogs we rescued from death's door. These pups were just minutes away from being euthanized, and now all they need is someone to give them the forever home they deserve.

Tonight, we're shining the spotlight on Havana. 🌸 She has been with us since February and has been the sweetest girl every step of the way. She's currently thriving with her amazing foster family, but she's more than ready to start the next chapter of her life with a family of her own.
