“Is your furry friend scratching nonstop? 🐾😿 August is Itchy Pet Awareness Month! Let’s explore ways to bring relief and comfort to our pets:

Why do pets get itchy? Common causes include:

• Allergies (food, environmental, or contact)
• Fleas and ticks
• Skin conditions (eczema, hot spots, or dermatitis)
• Parasites (mites, lice, or ringworm)

Signs of itchy pets:
• Excessive scratching, chewing, or licking
• Redness, irritation, or inflammation
• Hair loss or skin lesions
• Changes in appetite or behavior

Seeking advice from a veterinarian is important to determine if itch is caused by an infection, parasites or allergy and what treatment can best help your pet.

If your dog or cat is showing these symptoms, please don’t hesitate to make an appointment. You can contact us at 571-208-1011.

“July is National Pet Hydration Awareness Month! 🐾💧Let’s make sure our furry friends are staying hydrated and healthy! ☀️

Why hydration matters: Water helps regulate body temperature, digestion and overall health. Dehydration can lead to serious health issues, especially in pets.

Signs of dehydration: Watch for:
+ Dry gums
+ Lethargy
+ Sunken eyes
+ Loss of appetite

Summer safety: Be mindful of heatwaves and outdoor activities. Provide shade, rest, and plenty of water breaks.

May is coming to close and as we reflect on the past month,let’s take a moment to think about the things we’re grateful for. What moments, people or experiences brought you joy and appreciation?
There’s something special about senior cats. Their age and wisdom show in their eyes and their gentle purrs are a soothing balm. Doll-face love and compassion are still as strong as ever. They’re a reminder to appreciate the simple things in life and to cherish every moment with the ones we love. ❤️

DID YOU KNOW? That May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month? Let’s learn about how to keep your pet safe and tick-free! 🐶🐱✨

What is Lyme? Lyme disease is caused by a bacteria that is transmitted through certain ticks. Both animals and humans can become infected by this bacteria 🦠😵😖

Symptoms of Lyme disease in pets - While some pets may not show any signs of infection, signs of lyme disease can typically show up 2-5 months after the pet was first bit.

Common symptoms are:
* Lethargy or fatigue
* Limping or lameness that shifts from leg to leg
* Fever
* Loss of appetite
* Painful, swollen joints
* Swollen lymph nodes
If left untreated, Lyme disease can lead to kidney disease, heart conditions, and neurological issues

How can I protect my pets against Lyme disease? 🦠
Preventing lyme disease is a lot easier than treating it and here are some key steps to keep your pets safe! 🐶🐱✨
* Use reliable tick-prevention year round!
* Regular tick checks! Check your pets after spending some time outdoors!🌳
* Vaccination! Ask us or your local vet to see if the Lyme vaccine is right for your pet 💉
* Avoid tick-infested areas! If you do find any ticks on your pet, remember to check yourself too! 😖🐶🐱

For any questions regarding Lyme or appointment availability, give us a call at 571-208-1011 and schedule your visit with us today! As always, let us continue to keep you and our furry friends safe and pest-free! 🐶✨🐱🩷
