Nikki gets so excited and proud of herself when she gets her bone!🦴 We highly recommend these bones and after they get the treat on the inside we like to refill them with peanut butter and freeze them. It makes a great treat!

I want to bring awareness to a deadly water mold that is common in Texas per the veterinarian. We all need to be careful for puddles of water or other stagnant water that can carry the mold. In the instance with one of the owners of a 2 yo male who passed away last week 😭 the biopsy showed pythiosis. The biopsy stated it is more common in German Shephards and Labrador Retrievers. The link to this is in the comments. Sorry to share this sad incident but it’s something we need to be careful of with our water loving fur babies.

We want to share a water mold called pythiosis that is common in Texas. Unfortunately, we had a wonderful owner lose his 2 year old golden from this pythiosis. It came on very quickly and an extremely large mass grew in his abdomin. With all the rain we get in Texas, and with the extreme humidity and heat, this “swamp cancer” is easy for our goldens to pick up. Something as simple as a puddle with stagnant water that our dogs may get near or drink from can cause this deadly infection. 😞

Belonging to the phylum Oomycota, Pythium insidiosum is a parasitic spore that is capable of spontaneous movement (or a motile zoospore) that enters the body through the nose/sinuses, esophagus, or through the skin. Infection then usually settles in the dog's lungs, brain, sinuses, gastrointestinal....
