Info on Sweet Baloo aka- BooBoo💙
-Baloo
-Located in Luray VA
-Neutered and UTD on shots and heartworm
-He is good with kids, although the little ones tend to make him nervous. He'll bark at strangers but warms up to them quickly.
-On daily walks by the horses was he was fine, no bark, no growl.
-He does not do well with other male dogs, however he's good with females.
-He doesn't like to bathe but a leash will do the trick. Clipping his nails is tricky too. Distracting him with treats, or clipped a few while he was eating. He'll let you brush his teeth tho.
-No cats
-He's not crate trained, as he always got the run of the house, but he never destroyed anything, not even when he was teething!
-He's such a good boy, he walks well on a leash, has a good recall when off leash and knows the following commands. Sit, stay/wait, heel, off, down, come. When you want him to sit, like for a treat, he'll skip it and goes straight to the next command "down"
-He'll do anything for treats and loves his car rides and go hiking.
-He will not get on your couch unless he's invited by means of putting a blanket down first. But once on the couch, he'll make for the best snuggle bug you could ever wish for!!
-He's a healthy boy, no issues and vet records available
-Baloo developed aggression towards Ronan when he was around 1 years old. They keep his prong and electric collar on at all times and watch him 24/7. However, when not home, this is per the pet sitter, both dogs were fine together. But there have been many times where Baloo has tried to attack Ronan and was successful the last time. He left a small puncture wound in Ronan's neck before they could get them separated. However, there's never been any people aggression.
-He was taken on numerous hikes, around other people and he was fine. Curious, but not aggressive.
-Baloo came to them at 4 months young, but already with issues. He had been deprived of food, and close to being emaciated. It was no wonder that he started guarding his food. Severely! They had to feed him outside, away from Ronan. Then wait for him to calm down ( food was no longer on his mind) before they could bring him back inside. So it was addressed this by hand feeding him slowly. It was only when he calmed down that they gave him food. He made progress. They no longer had to feed him outside, but as a precaution we leashed him during and after feeding time.
-The perfect home for Baloo would be a home where he's the only dog, or with another giant breed female, no cats, no small children.
-He loves his humans and doesn't mind if you share your apples and bananas with him. Oh and throw some blueberries in his food and he's a happy camper.
Baloo is at the rescue now for the safety of Ronan who is an older Dane. The kennel life is not for sweet BooBoo. He wants human contact and lots of love. Please consider adopting this sweet giant boy. Dane experience is a must for this adoption.
