Last week, these little cuties came in for dental cleanings! Their pet parents are mother and daughter and scheduled their dentals on the same day so they could be together. And of course they're just so cute, so we had to post this! Don't you love their matching jackets?

Today is #RespectYourCatDay, which is a day to recognize our feline fur babies and the love they bring into our lives. Cats have many different personalities, and for the most part are independent. They usually only want to give and receive love on their own terms. But that's why we love them, right?

Meet Sophie! This sweet German Shorthaired Pointer puppy was here last week for her first visit. It's always so great when our patients love us as much as we love them! Sophie was smitten with Sarah, her technician. So much so, that she repositioned herself so she was hugging her. ❤️
Welcome to the Crossroads Family, Sophie!

Changes will be happening soon here at Crossroads! Starting as early as next week, we will be under construction. The plan is to not disrupt our operating hours, but we want you to be aware that there may be construction noises taking place while you are here.
We will be adding 3 new exam rooms, new flooring throughout our hospital, and updating our current exam rooms. We will also be painting and making changes in the reception area.
We are looking forward to these changes and can't wait to see what it all looks like in the end. We thank you all for your patience and understanding as we navigate through this adventure!

Today is #NationalPuppyDay and we are excited to welcome Dr. McCarthy's new Doberman, Tennessee Whiskey (aka "Tessie") to the Crossroads Family! Tessie is now part of the family with Fender (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever), Hamilton and Cisco (domestic short haired cats). She is very sweet and has some big paws to grow into!

Spring is here and that means the skunks are, too 🦨! Always be careful when letting your pets out in the yard at night. It is very unpleasant when they get sprayed by a skunk. The smell lasts for a LONG time. But we have a recipe here that works really well! Save this picture because if you have it, you won't NEED it (that's my philosophy, anyway 😁). 🦨 Good luck!

With Spring around the corner, now is a great time to remind you to get your pet's heartworm and flea & tick preventatives. Your pets should be on preventatives year-round, but this is the time of year that we start seeing a LOT of fleas and ticks. Then, when the mosquitoes start coming out, we have heartworm to worry about. So double check your supply and then let us know if you need any refills. The preventatives pictured are the ones we carry in hospital, but if you prefer a different product, then check out our online pharmacy: https://crossroadsanimalhospital.vetsfirstchoice.com/ Just remember to give us 24 business hours notice for refills. 😃
Have a great weekend!!!

Our online appointment request tool (found on your PetSites Patient Portal or available when you receive an e-mail reminder about exams and vaccines) is an awesome tool to use to request an appointment for your pets! You choose 3 dates, times and doctors that work for you and we do our best to get you scheduled as close to one of them as we can. You can even leave notes with additional information, such as "no doctor preference" or "any time after 3:00 would work best," etc.
We have been very busy, though, and we have had to decline a lot of requests because we are scheduling out about 6-7 weeks. If you need an appointment sooner than that, then please give us a call so we can work together to find something that works for you. (The online request is NOT meant for sick visits. ALWAYS call if your pet is sick or injured.) We do have the reminders set to be sent to you about 8 weeks before your pet is due, so make sure you are submitting your appointment requests ASAP (or give us a call) to get your top pick for a date, time and doctor. Try to choose a date as close to your pet's due date as possible.
In the pic, there is a screen shot of what a typical e-mail looks like when it's sent to you. The highlighted area tells you how far out we are scheduling appointments. Always check that because if we start to get SUPER busy, that time frame may change.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call! 🙂

We would like to introduce you to our newest veterinarian, Dr. Clarissa Spadanuta! She joined our staff at the beginning of February, so you may have already seen her for an appointment for your pet. We are very excited to have her on our team!
Her bio from our website: Dr. Spadanuta graduated from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary medicine. She is originally from Long Island NY, and before joining our team she practiced at a small animal hospital in Massachusetts. She also loves shelter medicine, and performs spays and neuters at a cat shelter in her free time. She has a rescue dog named Bubba, and together they love to go on hikes then hang out on the couch.
Leave your well wishes for Dr. Spadanuta in the comments!

I know #InternationalWomensDay was yesterday, but I was out sick and I didn't want this day to go by without recognizing all of the fabulous women on our staff. Our staff is mainly all women (we have 2 wonderful men on staff, as well) who are smart, funny, kind, empathetic, strong, caring and amazing! We wouldn't be who we are without each and every one of them. So a big shout out to the women of CAH! ❤️

On behalf of Teddie Bear and myself..We thank Dr. McCarthy from the bottom of our ♥️♥️ for the 5 ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️ care she continues to provide to Teddie Bear as we work thru her medical issues. I can feel just how relaxed Teddie Bear is with her..❤💐💘🐾🐾🦴😊
Toulouse and Miska say thank you for being the most friendly and comforting vet experience!
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone at Crossroads for the exceptional care you gave to our amazing dog Lulu for her entire life! Lulu passed peacefully on 12/29/21. Without question, the care, knowledge and creativity of the Crossroad's vets and technicians gave Lulu many extra quality months of life she would otherwise not have had. Lastly, I must add an extra level of thanks and gratitude to Sarah Blatchford. She always went above and beyond for Lulu.
Think phones are having issues again - I’ve been trying for the last 12 minutes and keep getting the message “the wireless caller you called is not available…”
Hi there! I recently left the corporate world to pursue my passion of birds. My business is called Birdie Mum Bird Care LLC and I will be bird sitting for birds from all "wings" of life. Would you possibly share my flyer with any of your clients that may ask if you board birds? I will board some birds at my house here in Manchester, NH for those that aren't close. Thank you!!
Thank you for the Trivia Winner bag for the month of May!! The #Heartguard sunnies went perfectly with my Rosebud Motel shirt today!!! Also, I’ve been wanting a heart-shaped pair of sunglasses this year but wasn’t sure if they’d look good or not… I have my answer now!! 😍😍😍😍
Hi there! I have a question about my pet's vaccination record, and I'm trying to reach you all via phone, but the phone system is down. How can I reach you? Thanks!
Do you do any house calls for Rabies and can give the shots outside you don't have to come into the house. I have 4 dogs needing their shots. The boys fight with each other. 1 of the boys gets car sick. The mother doesn't get along with her sons.
Do you treat crested geckos?
Thank you Crossroads for another great visit. We love Dr McCarthy and all the Vet Techs. Sniff is in wonderful hands. ❤️❤️❤️🐾🐾🐾
CONFIRMED RABIES CASE IN TOWN On April 13, 2021 ACO David Carver responded to an address on Holton Circle for a dog that got into a fight with a racoon. ACO Carver located the racoon, euthanized it, and sent it for testing in Concord as the racoon displayed possible signs of rabies. We received the results today and confirmed that the racoon was in fact rabid. Please remember to keep an eye on your pets while they are in your yard and especially if you are walking them out in public. We (LPD and Town Hall) held a drive-thru rabies vaccination clinic this past Saturday in coordination with the Town Clerk's Office. More than 60 dogs were registered and vaccinated at our first annual event (we will have another next year in April 2022). However, the Town of Hudson will host a drive-thru rabies vaccination clinic this Saturday April 17, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am (limited to first 200 pets). Please visit this link for more info: https://www.hudsonnh.gov/police/page/rabies-clinic-0 If you missed the clinic, we encourage you to have your pet vaccinated as soon as possible, especially since we have a confirmed case of rabies in town.
