Giving Animals in need a Second Chance! The Second Chance Fund provides financial support for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes.

This includes funding veterinary care for:
Humane Society animals who require care/surgery prior to adoption. This includes spays, neuters, vaccinations, and preventative health care. Stray animals
Assistance to breed rescue groups
Extreme hardship cases - animals who are surrendered to the Second Chance Fund for further care. When it is determined that an animal can be made whole, healthy, and happy, they are given a "second chance" at life. We can then offer them hope for a future full of happiness and love through careful placement in an adoptive home. Funding Sources Include:
Donations from veterinary hospitals, pet owners, the general public, local businesses, and drug companies. Memorials
Fundraisers such as the doggie dash, garage sales, calendars, and bake sales. Advanced directives and estate planning

It is $10 minimum per photo for submissions and donations.
Get your family and friends to send in donations to your pets photo! Payments can be received via cash or check at any of Lodi Veterinary Care's 3 locations or to our Paypal using the email [email protected]

The Second Chance Fund has admitted Jimmy, a 3 year old M/N Retriever/Shepherd to our program.

Jimmy has a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee which will involve surgical repair. We need to find a good foster home that would be willing to keep Jimmy for the next few months as we work through management of the lameness, surgery, and
recovery. Post operatively, we will need rehabilitation until he is sound (possibly 6-8 weeks) at which time he will be up for adoption. He will need a strong foster parent to help him get around and restricted activity. He is very good with walking on a leash!

Jimmy has a very sweet personality, calm demeanor and eyes that are soulful! He is
gentle and loves attention. Part of the expected task of the foster family is to help us evaluate his personality and advance his training. The foster family can return him if it is not working out and, per Second Chance rules, has first dibs on adoption. All expenses of the surgery and during the foster period will be covered by The Second Chance.

Maxxi gets a Second Chance
Maxxi is a 13 week old female kitten who was surrendered to the Second Chance Fund after
being attacked by a large dog. She had an extensive maxillary fracture involving her teeth, roof
of her mouth and the sinuses of her nose. Lodi Veterinary Care repaired her lacerations and
extracted the fractured teeth. A feeding tube was placed to allow her to eat while the fracture
healed.
Despite all of this trauma and treatment, Maxxi remains playful and very cuddly. She is on track
for a full recovery with some monitoring as her adult teeth come in. She is eating soft foods on
her own and is currently in foster care. Because of her sweetness, she will likely be adopted
