In the wake of the recent flooding and ongoing wet weather, there have been confirmed cases of Leptospirosis in our area. This serious bacterial disease can affect dogs, wildlife, and even humans — and we want to help you keep your pets safe.

🔬 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙇𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙤𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙨?
Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection that can cause severe illness, including liver and kidney failure.
​
💧It is commonly spread through contaminated water (like puddles and floodwater) and urine from rodents such as rats and mice.
​
💧While cats can contract it, this is extremely rare. Dogs are the most vulnerable.
​
💧It is also zoonotic, meaning it can spread to humans — particularly risky for children, the elderly, or anyone immunocompromised.
​
⚠️ 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗴𝘀:
Symptoms can be vague but may include:
• Fever
• Vomiting and diarrhoea
• Lethargy
• Loss of appetite
• Jaundice (yellowing of gums or eyes)
• Increased drinking and urination

𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘴, 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘶𝘴 𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺.

• Avoid letting pets drink from puddles or play in flood water
• Prevent dogs from consuming deceased rodents
• Wash paws after wet walks
• Ensure your dog is up to date with their Leptospirosis vaccine

It's that time again already! Time to mark your calendars for our annual Clinton County SPCA Fall Pet Extravaganza! 🍂🍁🐾

Riverview Park in Lock Haven | October 4th | 10AM-3PM

There will be food vendors, craft vendors, fun for the kids, face painting, pumpkin painting, blessing of the pets, doggie olympics, basket raffles, photo booth & more!

And of course, this whole event is to benefit the animals at the shelter. So come out and enjoy the day and help support a good cause, we hope to see you there! ♥️

Finder said found the puppy in save a lot parking lot on 6/16 around midnight.

Please call 570-748-4756 if you recognize this dog or are missing this dog. We have 0 reports of a puppy in this area being lost.

I’m sorry to make this, we truly are as this stuff isn’t easy, but we are CLOSED on any intakes for stray dogs running at large or owner surrenders.

We will update as we can and are able. In 48 hours, 5 more dogs have came into care and we are past overflow. There are rules, regulations and laws we must abide by to remain open, I am sorry.

Please, leash your pups, double check your gates, latches and doors, if your dogs missing if something happens please report it right away.
