Regrettably, our approach to interacting with potential rabbit buyers will be changing. As a small, family-run hobby, rather than a large-scale backyard breeding operation, rabbits have been an important part of our lives for many years. Both my husband, Rick, and I have had a lifelong love for rabbits, with my family keeping them as pets and his family raising them for meat, and a deep affection for the breeders as cherished companions. Over the years, we have rescued numerous rabbits, dedicating considerable time and money to nursing them back to health and rehoming them. Our profound love for these magnificent creatures is unwavering. As we approach our 70s, they have become increasingly vital as a source of therapy and comfort. We breed sparingly and are meticulous in selecting suitable buyers for our offspring, often posing numerous questions, which may, at times, be irritating to potential buyers. Our commitment to finding the right homes for our rabbits has led us to establish meaningful connections with wonderful individuals, with whom we have shared experiences and traveled considerable distances. We take immense pride in being reliable and honoring our promises. Despite prior arrangements, one individual ceased responding, while another failed to appear at the agreed-upon meeting point, how inconsiderate. Such actions have led us to implement new measures to safeguard our interests. Moving forward, we will require a non-refundable $35 deposit from interested buyers, or to collect the rabbit close to our residence. We will no longer travel hours to meet with a buyer...! This policy will not apply to our repeat 4H buyers, with whom we have established a trusting relationship and a set pickup location. We would like to extend our gratitude to the numerous individuals who have demonstrated kindness and reliability in their interactions with us. While the majority of our experiences have been wonderful, the recent incidents have necessitated this adjustment. Raising rabbits is a labor-intensive and costly driven by our love for them. Our objective is to provide healthy, well-socialized rabbits at reasonable prices, ensuring that buyers can experience the joy of rabbit ownership. We do not profit from breeding rabbits; rather, we engage in this activity because they are wonderfully interesting creatures. In the event that circumstances change, and a buyer is no longer able to care for their rabbit, we are willing to take the animal back if able. Unfortunately, we can no longer accommodate individuals who attempt to take advantage of our willingness to be honest and decent people...
