WILDFIRE EMERGENCY UPDATE
After a weekend of rapidly spreading wildfires, dangerous fire conditions continue into Monday across multiple states, with evacuations, destroyed structures, road closures, and ongoing threats to both people and animals.
TEXAS
Multiple fires continue burning across the Texas Panhandle, including near Canyon, Texas, where the Hunggate Fire has burned more than 14,000 acres.
KANSAS
Wildfires across southwest Kansas have now burned more than 100,000 acres, destroying homes, buildings, and power lines.
COLORADO / OKLAHOMA
A wildfire in Baca County, Colorado, has scorched more than 13,000 acres, triggering evacuations near Campo after crossing from Oklahoma into Colorado.
More than 62% of the U.S. is currently experiencing drought conditions, contributing to elevated wildfire risk nationwide.
FOR EQUINE GUARDIANS:
• Leave early if evacuation orders are issued
• Keep trailers fuelled and ready
• Place halters and ID tags on horses now
• Prepare feed, medications, paperwork, and water in advance
• Monitor smoke exposure closely
