Smith County Pets Alive We are a nonprofit 501C3. We are dedicated to building a no kill community while saving lives.

We believe every animal that is healthy & adoptable ( treatable) has the right to live . We are a grassroots humane, not for profit organization, 501c3 We are dedicated to building a no kill community by ending the killing of lost and homeless pets through the use of proven, cost effective methods that have already ended shelter killing in over 300 communities throughout the United States. Smith C

ounty Pets Alive promotes the inherent value of every animal and strives to educate the public about proper and responsible animal care. We have an unwavering conviction to honor the fact that each and every animal is an innocent, living breathing soul that deserves a chance at life, love, and a family. We envision our fellow citizens as well as local officials coming together to build a No Kill Community. We believe that as our community becomes aware of our current situation and learns that a progressive humane sheltering mentality is the only right choice and moral imperative they will not settle for less.

💕Sam is just one of the hundreds of dogs we have rescued ‼️ He was found on country roads starving and abandoned . He was one of the sweetest most gentle souls ! He was vetted , nursed back to health . The pure JOY on his face and his whole new extended family still makes me tear up today

2011 - This picture is the first day they moved into their new location downtown Tyler Tx

“The new Smith County Animal Control shelter had its first rescue on its first day of opening to the public.

“Bullard, a 3-month-old male Pit Bull mix taken into the shelter on Tuesday, was rescued Wednesday, December 7, 2016, by the local rescue group, Smith County Pets Alive.

Nanette Moss, Smith County Animal Control Shelter Coordinator, said Bullard will be fostered and vetted for at least two weeks and then will be transported to Maine, where he has an adoption application pending there. “
Bullard is pictured here with Matt Master, with Smith County Pets Alive.

💕LOVE THIS ‼️

💕 When we started the first volunteer program at SCAC we were able to do this and the results were phenomenal!!

🐾 SHELTER SKIP DAY IS COMING SOON! 🐾

We are so excited to announce that Shelter Skip Day is launching very soon and we can’t wait for our community to be part of it!

What is Shelter Skip Day?
It’s a program where community members can “check out” an approved shelter dog for the afternoon. Take them on an adventure, grab lunch on a patio, stroll through a pet-friendly store, or just give them a break from the kennel environment.

✨ Why it matters:
• Gives dogs a mental break from the shelter
• Reduces stress and kennel anxiety
• Helps us learn more about their personalities in real-world settings
• Increases adoption exposure through community visibility
• Creates meaningful connections between our dogs and our community

It’s enrichment. It’s marketing. It’s lifesaving.

💛 We’re still looking for local pet-friendly businesses to partner with us!
We are building a list of recommended hangout spots for our Shelter Skip Day participants. If you have a pet-friendly patio, retail space, coffee shop, or other welcoming space, we would love to include you.

Partner businesses will:
• Be promoted as an official Shelter Skip Day destination
• Help support animal welfare in a direct, visible way
• Have the opportunity to offer optional incentives or specials to participants

This program is about strengthening community partnerships while helping dogs get the break they deserve.

If your business would like to be added to our recommended hangout list, please message us for more information!

Let’s get these dogs out for a day of fresh air, fun, and community connection.
