If you’ve been waiting on our Kerrville Flood Donation Update, here is the post for you! Last week we were blown away by the generous donations from our surrounding communities for the Kerrville flood victims.
If you missed our story, we made a post mid morning on last Monday asking for help, and East Texas did not disappoint! By the end of the day on Tuesday, roughly only 18 business hours later, we were concerned that we would have to cut off donations earlier than expected. We picked up a truck full of more donations from Mineola, donations from Atwoods, and we had more planned donations in route scheduled for Wednesday morning. Come Wednesday morning, we made the call first thing to put an end to product donations. Of course word didn’t make it to everyone, and we still had a few donations trickle in Wednesday and Thursday that we accepted still. Thursday morning, Dr. Johnson came with a 16 foot trailer (red trailer pictured) that we loaded down top to bottom and front to back, and left little to no room in. We unfortunately had to even turn away a few vehicles loaded down with car fulls of more donations because we simply did not have any more room. With what little space was left, Dr. Johnson still had a load full of donations to pick up from family members in the Dallas area who were helping collect more for the load. As you can see, come Thursday night Dr. Johnson learned that the 16 foot trailer out weighed the truck and an upgrade was in store for the trip. Last minute, Dr. J scrambled to upgrade to a box truck to suffice, and hit the road Friday morning.
As for the update, Dr. Johnson swung by early Friday and grabbed the last items from the clinic he needed and made the trip to Kerrville. Dr. Johnson and all of your generous donations safely made it to Kerrville on Friday afternoon, and have been put to great use already. Dr. Johnson was able to dedicate some of his time to helping some of the patients in the area and making the delivery. He has made it back to Lindale and has been at work all week - we’ve just had a couple of busy days with our Low-Cost Spay/Neuter day also taking place yesterday and are a little late at updating you all!
We cannot stress our gratitude again for the out pouring of love and support you all have shown a community in need. While Kerrville is currently fully stocked and no longer needing physical donations, you can continue to donate monetary donations directly to Kerrville Pets Alive at https://kerrvillepetsalive.com However, we will no longer be taking donations at our clinic at this point. Thank you for your continued support for those in need, and for supporting our goal to help!
