As part of our Arthritis Awareness month, we are offering a NEW wellness special!

When you elect an advanced care labwork package as part of your pet's wellness exam, we will perform FREE 2 view x-rays of your pet.

This combination of diagnostics allow us to have a full picture of your pet's health and helps us better determine arthritis management recommendations!

Feel free to discuss this special with our veterinarians at your pet's next wellness visit!

Arthritis management is not one size fits all for our pets! Depending on which joints affected and severity of disease, there are a wide range of treatments. Over the next few weeks, we hope to share highlights of all treatment options available!

Joint supplements are the first line of defense for aging animals likely to develop arthritis and for certain young animals that will be prone to arthritis as they age.

We recommend:
Glucosamine chondroitin (Dasuquin, Cosequin, Movoflex)
High quality omega 3 fatty acids (Welactin, Standard Process omega-3)
Boswellia (Standard Process Boswellia complex, Movoflex)

As always, discuss with our veterinarians which option may be best for your pet!

Common signs of arthritis can include:

Continuing our appreciation we have Tailynn, Maysen and Chase:

Tailynn is from Laurel NE. Currently studying fisheries and wildlife at UNL. She is in the pre-vet program and is planning on attending vet school in the fall of 2026. She enjoys spending her free time with friends and family.

Maysen is from Ogallala Nebraska and moved to Lincoln in 2021 and has been working at Pitts Veterinary Hospital since December 2024. She loves her 3 rescue cats; Cairo, Stevie Wonder, and Baby Man. When she's not at work she enjoys going to live music, coloring, and spending time with her friends and family. Eventually, she hopes to go back to school to become a veterinary technician.

Chase started at Pitts back in February of 2021. He started working in Kennels, moved to reception and helps run rooms with the Doctors. He is currently studying nursing and in his spare time still helps us out here in the clinic.

We appreciate everything our staff does to help keep moving the clinic forward.

Happy Veterinary Receptionist Week!!!

Ellie started as kennel staff 6 years ago and is now the front desk manager. She currently has one cat, but loves all the animals. Ellie enjoys spending time with her husband and their daughter. She also loves interacting with the animals and clients.

Carter is the newest member of the Pitts team. He is currently studying to be a Vet Technician through Penn Foster. He has a deep love for animals especially for dogs, no offense to cat owners. I currently have a black lab at home and she makes home feel like home.

JD joined Pitts Veterinary Hospital 3 years ago as a full-time veterinary receptionist. He enjoys helping clients with everything from general questions to scheduling appointments and loves seeing the wide variety of patients that visit our clinic.

Happy Monday!

During our monthly meeting last week, we tested our engineering skills. Staff formed teams to see who could build the tallest marshmallow spaghetti tower. As you can imagine spaghetti and marshmallows are not structurally sound building materials! But, everyone worked together and created some pretty interesting towers. Our winning team was Dr. Hillman, Bailee and Chloe!
