The Capital Humane Society is a non-profit organization with a goal of uniting animals and families.

We offer adoptions, education and training to help foster a love of animals and a lifetime of companionship. In addition to serving the community, Capital Humane Society provides a variety of opportunities! The staff works diligently to reunite lost animals with pet owners. We also want to create a successful and long lasting relationship when it comes to adding a pet to your home. For your convenience, all dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets are given a health examination, spayed or neutered and given a series of vaccinations prior to entering the adoption program. An active volunteer program offers a variety of things that individuals can help with. Volunteers help with the socialization of animals, the Pet Assisted Therapy Program, as well as giving tours and presentations to school age children and civic groups.

😻 Adoption Update! 😻

Here are a few photos of Chartreuse (now named Pickle) enjoying her new home. She settled in immediately and has been purring and playing nonstop.

She hasn’t shown one ounce of fear and is very content exploring or just staying in her kitten-proof room.

We are so happy we got the opportunity to meet lil pickle and take her home!

🐾💜 Help give a pet their fighting chance. 💜🐾

Some pets come to Capital Humane Society needing more than routine care. They need specialized treatment, extra support, and people willing to go the extra mile.

Zephyr received that chance, and today she's doing great! Through Zephyr’s Fighting Chance Fund, you can help provide critical veterinary care for other shelter pets facing extraordinary medical needs.
