Spring is here! And with that comes a warning about Leptospirosis, a disease caused by infection with Leptospira bacteria.

All dogs are at risk of leptospirosis, regardless of age, breed, lifestyle, geographic location, time of year, and other factors. The following situations can increase that risk:

➡Exposure to or drinking from slow-moving or stagnant water sources, like ponds, rivers, lakes, or streams
➡ Roaming on rural properties (because of exposure to potentially infected wildlife or farm animals or urine-contaminated water sources)
➡ Exposure to wild animals (especially rodents) or farm animals, even if in the backyard
➡ Contact with other dogs (such as in urban areas, dog parks, or boarding or training facilities)

We are pleased to introduce Avery, who is celebrating her third birthday this month. ☘️🍀

As the daughter of a Licensed Veterinary Technician, Avery has developed a strong affinity for animals. Her passion for cats has inspired us to collaborate with Shelter to Home Animal Rescue to raise funds for animals in need.

Currently, a critical and adorable kitten named Kelly requires our urgent attention. Born with pectus excavatum, a rare congenital deformity, Kelly needs radical surgery to correct her breathing difficulties. The procedure, which must be performed by a specialist, will cost between $4,000 and $5,000. We kindly request your support for Shelter to Home Animal Rescue's mission to save animals in need by making a donation if possible. 🐾❤️‍🩹

Happy anniversary to Dr. Dizik. Many of our clients are unaware of the humorous and outgoing personality that we have the pleasure of experiencing on a daily basis. Dr. Dizik has been an integral part of LPVH for 45 years and has practiced veterinary medicine for a total of 50 years, a truly remarkable achievement. His compassion for his patients is evident in everything he does. At present, Dr. Dizik has no plans to retire and continues to work at least three days a week, performing surgery on Mondays and Wednesdays and seeing appointments for his loyal clients on Thursdays. Additionally, Dr. Dizik is still the owner of the 24-hour emergency clinic in Allen Park. You are a doctor who genuinely cares about your profession. Thank you again, happy anniversary Dr. Dizik.
