T.I.P. Program Tuesday - Non-competition awards

When T.I.P. was launched in 2012, our programs included horse show awards and two non-competition awards: the Thoroughbred of the Year and the Young Rider of the Year. The Thoroughbred of the Year recognizes a Thoroughbred that has excelled in a non-competitive career, and previous winners have included horses that found their calling in equine-assisted services and police work. The Young Rider of the Year Award is an essay contest designed to recognize an excellent young rider who owns or leases a Thoroughbred. Previous winners have used their award funds for college, to attend special horse shows, and to further their education with horses by attending clinics. The deadline to apply each year is June 30, and this year's winners will be announced later this summer.

T.I.P. Program Tuesday - T.I.P. Championships

First held in 2017, the T.I.P. Championships were created to highlight the athleticism and professionalism of off-track Thoroughbreds as show horses and celebrate those who have chosen to own or ride a Thoroughbred. Thoroughbreds must qualify to participate in the T.I.P. Championships, either by attending one of the many shows with T.I.P. awards and Take2 divisions or by participating in the prior year's Performance Awards or the Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover. All horses must be declared after qualifying. Thoroughbreds that are being shown during the Championship year can also qualify through a hardship request, a simple online process that provides the horse's show record for consideration to qualify. Entries are now open for the 2025 T.I.P. Championships, held at Stable View, and we cannot wait to see you in Aiken!

T.I.P. Program Tuesday - Performance Awards

First added to T.I.P. in 2013, the Performance Awards were created to recognize the Thoroughbreds accumulating the most points at all horse shows in each of the award categories and divisions throughout the year. Open to all eligible Thoroughbreds with a T.I.P. number, the PAs allow Thoroughbred owners and riders in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico to submit results from all shows where they participate throughout the year, in virtually all disciplines. Special awards are offered from recently retired racehorses, junior riders, Retired Racehorse Project Makeover alumni, and adopted horses.

T.I.P. Program Tuesday - T.I.P. awards at horse shows

Where it all started! Since launching in 2012, T.I.P. has been offering Thoroughbred high point awards, classes and divisions at horses shows of all disciplines and levels across the U.S. and Canada. Growing from 150 shows in 2012 to over 1,600 in 2025, T.I.P. has awarded thousands of ribbons and prizes to Thoroughbreds over the years. Like all of T.I.P's programs, a (free) T.I.P. number is required to participate. T.I.P. numbers are horse/owner specific and if a horse has multiple riders, each rider needs to be added to the number through your T.I.P. account. Provide the horse's T.I.P. number to the participating show for purposes of eligibility and check with the show on how they would like the information provided to ensure you're eligible for awards.
