The Humane Society of Davidson County is a non-profit, no-kill volunteer organization dedicated to the welfare of animals and residing in Davidson County, North Carolina. We have educated the public about the needs of animals, and promoted laws that benefit animals. Over the years, we have saved the lives of thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens, thereby working to reduce the serious problem of overpopulation.

“We had this sweet pup arrive in our driveway on Sunday morning (5/31/26). No collar and vet confirmed no chip. We are thinking this poor guy was dumped and left behind with how attentive he is towards people. He seems to be a young dog who loves to be near people, so much so that he does pretty well off leash. This sweet pup seems to be a blue heeler/corgi mix. We would love to be able to find him a home or foster placement as we have two dogs of our own that are currently isolated to ensure safety and care for this sweet guy. We won’t be able to keep him much longer due to our schedules and the medical needs of our other dog. Please reach out if you are interested in fostering this dog.”

This dog who we have called “Charlie” showed up on the Saturday before Mother’s Day. There were about 20 people here including kids. He was great with all of us and especially the children. He was covered with ticks and fleas. He was under weight and his ribs were showing. We gave him a flea and tick treatment the next day. We removed all the ticks and gave him a bath. He did well with the bath. We got him some food and a water bottle and within a couple days he was feeling a lot better. He has had 3 baths to date. He likes to be brushed. He love the Milk-bone Gravy bones and Purina Dog Chow. He is so sweet and loving. He will hug you when you first come home and see him. I took him to the vet, and they couldn’t find a chip. He loves to roam, so a fenced in yard would be perfect. We feel we were the right people at the right time to help him look and feel good again. We put it out on Facebook to let people know he was with us if anyone was missing him. We would keep him but, we are on the go doing things and we just don’t have the time or fenced in yard for him to run.

☔️💦☔️ HI, my name for now is George and my brothers name is Paul. Our foster rescued us after we had been left behind when our owners moved 🐈‍⬛😢🐈‍⬛😢
We’ll be at THRIFTY PAWS this Saturday looking for a new home. Here’s what our foster says about us:
George and Paul. Think Beatles. Young Boys 10 months to 1 year. Abandoned by their original owners. Now neutered, up to date on shots and 4 Paws microchipped both. Combo tested negative also. Just very sweet boys that should never have been left behind, OUTSIDE!! When all they knew was an indoor life . Please share and come visit us tomorrow 🐈‍⬛❤️🐈‍⬛

Yesterday was dog day for a few of the people at Piedmont Crossing in the new and enlarged dog park. The park’s name is Wiggly Field! Two of our Humane Society rescue dogs were there. They think it’s great!
