Some teams get cake… we got tattoos! 🖤

To celebrate Vet Tech Week, we traded our usual team bonding for a trip to the tattoo studio, and honestly, what better way to make memories together than with a little permanent ink?!

We love our team, what we do, and all the people who make it special. So of course, we had to commemorate it in a way we’ll never forget!

Swipe to see everyone’s new art!

A huge thank you to Purple Lotus Tattoo Shavons for having us and making the day so special!

💙 Celebrating our team this Vet Tech Week! 💙

Veterinary medicine takes heart, hard work, teamwork, and an incredible amount of compassion. Our technicians and support staff give their time, energy, and love to every patient who walks through our doors.

We believe the people who care for our patients deserve to feel cared for, too. This week we're celebrating their dedication, recognizing their hard work, and reminding them how valuable they are to our team.

To our amazing staff: Thank you for everything you do, the big things and the little things that often go unnoticed. Our patients and their families are lucky to have you.

(not pictured is Zoie but we love her too!)

Have you ever spotted a cat with a tipped ear and wondered what it means?

Feral and community cats are part of our neighborhoods. While some are fearful of people, others are friendly and enjoy human interaction. Many are cared for by local residents who provide food and look out for their well-being.

These residents are known as community cat caretakers. Lexington County’s animal control ordinance addresses community cats and their caretakers, including requirements for sterilization and rabies vaccination for cats allowed to roam freely.

So, what does that tipped ear mean? It indicates that a cat has been through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return). The cat is humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated as appropriate, and returned to its outdoor home. The ear tip is a visual sign that the cat has been sterilized, helping prevent unnecessary retrapping.

Why is TNR so important? It helps prevent unwanted litters, reduces future growth of outdoor cat populations, and supports healthier lives for community cats.

Need help with community cats? Local resources include Pawmetto Lifeline, Safe Cats Coalition, and Animal Mission. Reach out to learn more about available TNR programs and assistance in your area.

The next time you see a cat with a tipped ear, remember that it represents an effort to care for community cats and prevent more kittens from being born outdoors. Every TNR effort makes a difference!

We’re a little late in officially introducing Nicole, but as they say, better late than never!

Nicole has always had a love for animals, the outdoors, and helping others. After living in Nashville, Tennessee, she completed college coursework focused on small animal care. She went on to spend approximately six years working in small animal emergency medicine, where she developed strong clinical skills, learned to think quickly under pressure, and deepened her compassion for both patients and their families.

Nicole later moved to Aiken, South Carolina, where she spent a year and a half working in large animal medicine. Her experience in both small animal emergency and large animal medicine has shaped her strong work ethic, adaptability, and appreciation for the special bond between people and their animals.

Outside of the clinic, Nicole is a proud mom of two boys and loves spending as much time with them as possible. When she’s not working or making memories with her boys, you can usually find her at the gym, horseback riding, hiking, or planning her next trip to the beach. She has an adventurous spirit and loves being outdoors, and she believes some of the best days are spent surrounded by family, animals, and a little sunshine.

We’re excited to officially introduce Nicole and are grateful to have her as part of our team! Be sure to say hello the next time you see her around the clinic.

Meet Bella, a beautiful conure who recently visited Dr. Combs for feather loss and dermatitis. We’re happy to share that she’s doing much better and looking great!

We love caring for unique pets like Bella and watching them get back to feeling their best. 💙
