Hi, it’s me. Your dog.

I know you think I live in the moment, but I remember everything that matters. I remember the sound of your keys at the door and how my heart races every time. I notice when your voice is tired and when your steps feel slow. I feel it when you sit beside me without a word, and I understand more than you think. When you rest your hand on my back, the whole world feels right again.

You worry about being enough. You replay old choices and wonder if you should have done better. None of that reaches me. I see the way you try. I see your kindness, even on the days you forget it is there. You are perfect to me, exactly as you are. My love does not ask questions or keep score. It only stays.
