Cam is one of our amazing CSR's and last week, they shared their last staff meeting with us! 🍰 We celebrated with rainbow cakes, and Cam treated us to a solo violin performance ("Ashokan Farewell"), which was so beautiful and full of love. Cam is moving out of state, but we are excited to share that our clients will still get to hear their voice answering phones! We will be getting them set up to work remotely once they're officially moved and settled. We're so excited that Cam will continue to be part of our team and family, no matter the distance between us!

September is Animal Pain Awareness Month. 🐾 💙 It's important to look out for signs of possible pain in order to be an advocate for their wellbeing.
Signs of pain can include:

- Stiffness
- Shaking or trembling
- Reluctance to jump
- Slow to get up or lie down
- Tense muscles and twitching
- Changes in behavior
- Excessive licking
- Whimpering

Veterinary Medical Manipulation (VMM) is a physical therapy used to help identify and alleviate points of pain or discomfort. If you believe your pet has been experiencing pain or exhibiting these common signs, contact your veterinarian about VMM.

Last week, Dr. Burcham had the chance to ultrasound a monkey-tailed skink (also called a prehensile-tailed skink)… and we saw a tiny baby moving inside the placenta! 🦎 💚 Here’s what makes these skinks so fascinating:

💡 They’re viviparous—meaning the young grow inside the mother and are nourished by a placenta (like mammals!).

💡 Pregnancy lasts about 6–8 months, and usually just one baby is born (though twins sometimes happen).

💡 Newborns are BIG—roughly a third the size of mom.

💡 Babies don’t go it alone right away. They stay with their family group for 6–12 months, cared for by both parents and other adults in the group.

Recently, one of our wonderful clients brought in her four rats for an appointment. 🐭 Dr. JC Burcham evaluated one of them for a respiratory illness. After the exams were completed, they all decided it was nap time and it was just too cute! Holiday decided to take a snooze on his buddy, Jerry. 💤 We wonder what they dream about.
