🚨 OUR SHELTER IS APPROACHING A CRITICAL POINT 🚨

We are having an incredibly difficult time at the shelter right now.

Our cats are experiencing a spread of ringworm, and because we do not have a proper isolation area, our team is doing everything possible to manage the situation and care for them safely.

At the same time, we are at MAXIMUM CAPACITY with dogs.

We know we ask for help often, but right now, we truly need animals to leave the shelter through adoption, foster, rescue, or responsible reclaim.

We do not want to euthanize any animal for space. However, we are quickly reaching the point where we may have no other option but to call a MAYDAY.

We do not use the word “Mayday” lightly.

When we call a Mayday, it is our most serious and honest effort to let the community know that animals are at immediate risk of euthanasia because we no longer have space to safely house incoming animals.

We still have a responsibility to provide animal control services for our community. We cannot permanently hold kennels while waiting weeks or months for an animal to be adopted. We want every animal to leave our shelter for a loving home or reputable rescue, but unfortunately, we do not always have the luxury of waiting.

We will be updating our available animals throughout the day. Please watch our page, share their posts, and come to the shelter to meet them.

If animals do not leave the shelter as soon as possible, we will have to call MAYDAY.

We are also asking the community to please help prevent unnecessary shelter intake:

🐾 Please make every reasonable effort to rehome your pet before surrendering.

🐾 Please do not pick up a stray animal unless you are willing and able to safely hold onto it while searching for its owner or intake at shelter.

🐾 Please spay or neuter your pets.

🐾 Keep vaccinations current.

🐾 Microchip your pets and keep the contact information updated.

🐾 Most importantly, please keep your animals safely contained and at home.

We understand that genuine emergencies happen, and we will always do our best to help. However, many of the animals entering the shelter are not coming from emergency situations. Responsible pet ownership must begin before an animal reaches our doors.

Please help us avoid having to make heartbreaking decisions.

We are closing early today due to an emergency. We will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday morning and apologize for any inconvenience.

We are back and playing catch up. We have a ton of calls and a ton of animals coming in. We did not move very many animals before conference and we are still full. We need animals out and into homes! These are the current cuties we have and will have available this week for adoption.

Note: we do have some ringworm cats (once again), any feline adopted we recommend isolating and keeping an eye out for ringworm!

VPAS will be closed Monday July 13 through Friday July 17. As the staff will be going to class to further their education.
We will return Monday July 20 normal business hours

Don't worry a wonderful individual will be taking care of all the babies here at VPAS during the week we are closed.

Any emergencies please contact your local police/sheriff's department.

We are waiving all fees on all adoptable animals today and tomorrow! We are trying to decrease our population before we are closed all week for three reasons. One - We have more animals scheduled to come in once we get back. Two - we are trying to make it easier for our volunteers Three - All these babies deserve a home.

Please come see us today! We are open until 6pm (closed 12 to 1 for lunch) and open on Saturday 10am to noon!

This girl was picked up at Thrifty Way pharmacy. We are urgently looking for her home, she is still lactating and full of milk. We are concerned for her puppies out there.

The staff and all the babies here at VPAS want wish everyone a safe and happy 4tg of July.
We will be closed Thursday 7/2/26 through Sunday 7/5/26 for the holiday.
