🦌 Early Muzzleloader Season — Oct. 18–19 🦌

The countdown is on — this weekend marks Kentucky’s Early Muzzleloader Season for deer! Best of luck to all hunters heading into the field.

A few reminders as you get ready:

Check out the 2025 Kentucky Hunting & Trapping Guide or visit fw.ky.gov for current regulations and license requirements.

In Zone 1 counties, harvesting a few extra does helps with herd balance and improves deer quality across the landscape.

Consider harvesting an extra doe and donating it to Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry — they cover the cost of processing, and your donation helps put protein on tables in your local community.

🦌Youth-Only Fi****ms Deer Season – One Week Away!🦌

Kentucky’s youth-only fi****ms deer season runs October 11–19, 2025 — a great opportunity to introduce a young hunter to the outdoors and pass on hunting traditions!

Here’s what you need to know:

-✅ Youth hunters 12–15 must have a youth hunting license and deer permit; hunters under 12 do not need them.

-🟧 Adults accompanying youth must wear hunter orange but cannot hunt using a firearm (except during statewide muzzleloader season).

-📝 Telecheck all harvested deer using the youth’s Social Security number and info.

-📱 Using online Telecheck or the KY Deer & Elk App helps reduce mistakes.

Youth hunters can harvest antlered or antlerless deer statewide, following all bag limits and regulations.
