Cruz & Lavy

These two rocked their photo session together!

Cruz adores Lavy and I love nothing more than having boys in our program who love on their women unconditionally and deeply.

Perfectly marked.

These 3 are what Bernedoodle dreams are made of when it comes to markings. Hazel and Boone truly outdid themselves with this litter. Each baby is beautifully marked and resembles the stunning Bernese Mountain Dog markings. However, markings aren't everything.

Here at KBD we strongly believe puppies should be selected based on temperament rather than looks/markings. Markings are a just bonus feature and have nothing to do with the puppies ability to love you and blend in with your family.

Boone Beauregard

Boone is our poodle stud for all of our standard tri colored Bernedoodles. Boone has produced 10 litters within our program. He is our main man.

Boone is a Momma's boy through and through. He loves deeply, unconditionally, and intensely. His puppies continually have his human focus, desire to please, incredible eye contact, trainability, and desire to snuggle. We love this boy dearly.

Let's chat about ribbons.

At KBD we use elastic collars from newborn through 2 weeks of age. We then make the switch to ribbons once puppies have outgrown their elastic collars around the 3 week old mark.

Ribbons are used to identify puppies during daily weight checks during the first 2 weeks of life to ensure each puppy is gaining weight and thriving. They are essential when our litters tend to be almost identical in markings.

Ribbons are used from weeks 3-5 in order to help puppy families identify each puppy in our weekly videos. We want families to get to know each puppies personality as they watch them interact with each other and our puppy curriculum.

We remove ribbons during week 5 once puppies are more active in their daily play and socialization stage. We prefer not to have anything around our puppies necks past week 5 in order to protect our puppies from unpredictable moments of tragedy.

Ribbons are easy to use, easy to adjust, and help each family identify each beautiful baby.

Week 3 is full of change.

Hazel's babies are 3 weeks old which means their eyes and ears are open. Their world just got a whole lot bigger!

Sounds exposure has begun. We introduce puppies to new sounds each day with different levels of volume.

Puppy are exposed to fire sirens, fireworks, car horns, thunderstorms, lawn mowers, various styles of music, and so much more.

We are desensitizing puppies to a multitude of sounds so that they are confident no matter the level or kind of sounds they discover in their new homes.

Invest in a breeder who takes the time to equip puppies to succeed in something as simple as sound exposure. This simple desensitization saves you from having a puppy/dog that battles with years of anxiety and insecurities when it comes to various sounds.

This is one snip bit of we do on a daily basis. Just once insight into how we raise our puppies to be confident and empowered.

Cosmos Cate

Cozy is everything we dreamt she would be as our first keeper Bernese Mountain Dog puppy from our own program. Cozy is from Ivy x Scout's "Salt City Eats" litter formally known as "Cafe Rio."

Cozy is gentle, calm, easy going, snuggly, loving, smart, playful, and stunning! She has all the best qualities from her Momma Ivy and Dad Scout. We are so excited for this girl's future in our program as both a Bernese and Bernedoodle Momma.

To say we miss her is a big understatement. We loved getting to spend 10 extra weeks with her before placing her in a Guardian Home. She is loved by all in our household and loved deeply by her incredible Guardian Family.

Introducing Cozy's Guardian Family

We are the Boettcher Family and we live in West Chester, Ohio.

Our kids’ sports and activities keep us very busy, but when time allows, we enjoy squeezing in a family round of golf together. We also love to travel and spend time with our friends and family.

We originally had our hearts set on a 3|17 bernedoodle puppy, but as fate would have it, we welcomed Cozy Cate into our home in March of 2025. Little did we know that she was meant to be with us all along and would be the perfect fit for our family.

Her name could not be more fitting. She is incredibly loving, cuddly and bursting with personality!

We feel so blessed and honored to give Cozy her forever home!

Anderson Cruz

Cruz spent 2 days with us last week and everyone in the house fell completely in love with him including all humans and animals. This boy is incredible!

Cruz lives full time with his Guardian Family. They have done a phenomenal job raising and training him. Cruz is eager to please, has intense human focus, he is gentle, loving, calm, and as stunning as they come.

Cruz is a mini multigen Bernedoodle who is FF, SS, -/-, BB, and genetically clear! Basically that means he is perfect in the Bernedoodle world. Cruz is charting to be around 35 pounds full grown which is right on track for our mini lines.

We are so excited for this boy's future in our program!

Hazel x Boone outdid themselves with this litter. All 8 of their "Little Herbs" are marked beautifully! They truly produced perfect babies for their final litter together.

White Collar Female - Margie

Newborn phase is my favorite to photograph. It's not the easiest age to capture by any means but it's always been my favorite. It takes ALOT of patience, quiet a bit of time, and complete trust from our Momma dogs.

I love the newborn squish, the tiny grunts, the compliance to mold into any position, the fresh pink noses and feet, and the desire to just be loved and held close. The newborn puppy smell is also hard to beat!

These F1 standard tri colored Bernedoodles are named after their beautiful Momma Hazel. Hazel's nickname in our house has always been "Hazel Basil." She has many nicknames in her Guardian Family's home and answers to them all including Piggy Bear, House Hippo, and Pork Buns. The creative and endless nicknames are a clear indicator of how deeply loved Miss Hazel is in her Guardian Home. However, in our home, Hazel has always been "Hazel Basil."

We wanted to honor Hazel with what is planned to be her retirement litter by naming each little one after their loving Momma. All 8 of Hazel's little ones are named after an herb just like their Momma Hazel's nickname "Hazel Basil."

It is always bittersweet when we have a retirement litter. It's the end of a beautiful journey and the beginning of a new phase of life for our parent dogs. It's a journey that not only we have navigated with Hazel but also a journey that Hazel's Guardian Family has navigated with us during the past 3 years. We are beyond grateful for Hazel's parents. Being a Guardian Family requires trust, patience, understanding, and sacrifice. Being without your dog for 8 weeks isn't for the faint of heart. However, understanding that your dog has the ability to bring little ones into the world that truly heal hearts and change lives is such a blessing. Hazel blessed us with 3 litters and 28 little souls that forever changed their family's lives for the better. What a gift she has been not only for her Guardian Family, but within our family, our program, and families all across the U.S.

Hazel Brynne

This gorgeous girl welcomed 8 standard size tri colored Bernedoodles into the world last weekend. She did fantastic throughout labor and delivery. We are beyond grateful to have a healthy Momma and 8 beautiful little souls who are all thriving and growing each day.

Delivery Basket Supplies

All of the materials seen are used to help Momma and puppies during the delivery process.

At KBD we intervene during the birthing process and cut and clamp all our puppies umbilical cords. We do this to help avoid umbilical cord hernias.

We help Momma clean off babies by wiping them down with washcloths and provide suction with our suction bulb for puppies who are struggling to breath, have a lot of fluid in their lungs or fluid in their nose. It's super important to be trained in neonatal care to assist if needed during the birthing process and post delivery.

We have coconut oil on hand to administer if puppies are stuck in the birth canal and need assistance in delivering.

We also have our daily NuVet Plus supplement we give our Mommas daily as well as Oral Cal Plus and Healthy Bones for a boost in calcium during and post delivery for our Mommas.

Each Momma is different and every delivery is different. At KBD we prepare in advance by having all birthing supplies on hand and ready to ensure our Mommas are cared for and our puppies are given the best chance to thrive during and after birth.
