Lyric spent the day at Puppy Camp. It’s a 5 minute ride home. I took the first picture before we pulled out of the parking lot and the second in the driveway at home. Thanks Willow Lodge Pet Resort! I think Lyric will sleep well and we will see you tomorrow.

Lyric has been pointing birds for a couple of weeks now. Today she decided that the contraption springing the birds away from her were the enemy and needed to be destroyed. This girl has prey drive!

We spent the day with Navhda - Midwest Tri State Chapter running Utility Tests. Our facial expressions sum up the day. Troy-smiling because any day spent with dogs and dog people is a good day. Iggy-smiling because it’s great fun to turn a duck search into a frog hunt while your handler internally laughs and cries at the same while quietly doing his best Jedi mind trick to switch the search from frogs back to ducks. Tucker-looking serious as always because making your handler think you will retrieve shot birds to hand cleanly in training and not on test day is serious business. Regardless of the outcome a huge THANK YOU goes out to all the volunteers, judges, gunners and handlers who made the day possible, as well as everyone who helped us train. I also could not do what I love to do without Pam Van Beek who holds down all the stuff going on at home while I’m playing. You are the reason we are able to do what we love to do.

A hen pheasant brought her brood to our little patch of native prairie. She did not go unnoticed. The Coppershot crew will stay inside while the little family chases grasshoppers in our front yard.
