The recent loss of Beau did not come easy. His journey was one of long term care, dedication, and hope against the odds. But with his journey came difficult discussions. Discussions about quality of life, and the balance between fighting for survival and letting go. In situations like this, decisions are made in moments of raw emotion, love, hope, and reality — often with no clear path. Discussions about how long would we allow him to fight in this journey, the possibility of other health issues as a result of the medications he had to take which he was not lucky enough to beat the odds on, and the permanent damages that the aggressive seizures had brought on. Decisions like these are never black and white. What some see as prolonging the inevitable, others see as giving a life a fighting chance. Whats certain is that Beau was loved and cared for. And when it came clear that his journey was ending, we gave him peace and dignity. It wasn't a decision that was made lightly. The decision was made with love, and quality of life in mind - all in all, what was best for Beau. We thank Dr. Sarah, Dr. Trace and the rest of the staff at Southwest Vet Clinic who were a part of Beau's journey and fought along side us for him all of these years. We also want to thank Not Forgotten Pet Cremation for taking such good care of Beau and showing him the love and respect he deserved.

For most dogs, well fitted collars with leash and secured fences are necessary. For Hope, the only thing that's necessary is love and trust.

You won't see many dog trainers dealing with reactivity this way. But reactivity is much deeper than "don't do this" and "do this instead". The nervous system plays a huge role in how our dogs perceive and react to the world. Many dogs need help shutting off the sympathetic nervous system and turning on the parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system is the dogs body's "fight-or-flight" response system. Examples of Sympathetic Activation are: Encountering a perceived threat (e.g., a strange dog, loud noises, a potential predator), excitement during play or training, fear or anxiety.
