This week we got to celebrate and thank our incredible Veterinary Assistants for their endless patience, skill and love for every animal who walks through our doors.

From comforting nervous patients and assisting with exams and procedures to keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes, our Veterinary Assistants play an essential role in caring for your beloved pets. Their dedication, yard work, and genuine love for animals make a difference in the lives of our patients every single day.

Veterinary Assistants are a vital part of our hospital and although today is the last day of their special week, our gratitude lasts all year long!!

🎉 Companion Animal Hospital is so proud to announce Dr. Heather Benson as our new Principal Doctor!

A graduate of Louisiana State University of Veterinary Medicine (Geaux Tigers!), Dr. Benson has spent her entire 20-year veterinary career caring for dogs and cats throughout Southern Nevada. She values the unique qualities of both species and enjoys the variety that companion animal medicine brings each day.

Dr. Benson is passionate about partnering with pet owners to help their companions live long, healthy, and happy lives. She believes that pets are cherished members of the family and finds it especially rewarding to provide preventive care, diagnose and treat illness, and support families through every stage of their pets' lives.

Originally from New Mexico, Dr. Benson shares her home with multiple pets and has a special fondness for Great Danes, her favorite dog breed. Outside the hospital, she enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family.

Dr. Benson is excited to become part of the Companion Animal Hospital family and looks forward to caring for your four-legged members for years to come.

We are so happy to welcome Dr. Shah to Companion Animal Hospital!!

Dr. Shah started his veterinary career working with alpacas and donkeys in Massachusetts while completing his bachelor's degree in Animal Science. During those 4 years, he developed a respect and love for the animals, realizing that he wanted to do more for them.

Dr. Shah attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in Saint Kitts, earning his DVM in 2022. While attending school, Dr. Shah found a passion for small animal medicine and surgery. He ended up following his dream to Las Vegas where he has been practicing for the last 3 years.

Dr. Shah treats his patients like family, understanding that they are like siblings or even our own kids. He yearns to provide pets compassionate care, while accounting for the owners needs and goals. He also strongly believes in clear, open communication, often finding that the simple conversations can go a long way in understanding our pets needs.

In his free time, Dr. Shah enjoys spending time outdoors with his dogs, Maya and Sanji, be that going hiking or taking a beach day. At home, he enjoys gaming and reading while his cats, Kuro and Kira, lounge by him. Dr. Shah also loves music and is always looking for recommendations.

Dr. Shah is excited to be a part of the Companion Animal Hospital team and looks forward to helping you and your pet's with their needs!!
