Although we have paid staff in key areas, they are stretched very thin. Volunteers serve so many vital roles we could not do otherwise. These are the key areas where volunteers make such a HUGE difference. And we need MORE support.
For example, we need to get one large dog to Animal Humane in ABQ this Friday by 1 p.m. Is anyone headed there who can help us? Contact our manager at 575-644-0505 if so. The time is a set appointment we need to make it to.
THANK YOU!

We want to thank Forever Homes Animal Rescue for taking Jacson back and finding him a great partner rescue in Colorado to transfer him to. Jackson was with us for a year--originally rescued off the streets of Las Cruces by the late Linda Jackson. For whatever reason, he never had adoption intetest here. Our large dog adoptions are always slow, even for our trained guys and gals. We hope Jackson can find a home SOON at his new location. He also a graduate of our Southern New Mexico PAWS prison training program.
Best of luck, sweet boy!

We understand people are only trying to help, but immediately removing neonatal kittens and taking them to a shelter should be the LAST resort. Most do not survive.
Follow these guidelines, and call our local community cat experts for advice before you touch any kittens you find:
Broken Promises SW: 575-640-7372
Cruces Cool Cats: 575-386-5585
The Cat's Meow: 575-640-0011
You can also call the municipal shelter, ASCMV, at 575-382-0018 or us at 575-571-4654.

Here are today's bottle baby recues from the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley ... thanks to a willing foster. But, this is only the beginning.
Now, we will provide everything the babies need to hopefully survive and thrive--medications, formula, Royal Canin Mama and BabyCat food, a series of vaccines, microchips, and spay/neuter. And many will end up in our Ringworm Ward for a month+ of specialized care by trained staff and volunteers.
We still need MORE help from our community to continue at our rate of saving on a nonstop basis. We've survived through financial distress since 2023, but we're always on the cusp of emergency operations and intake freezes until we are in the black comfortably again.
The best way everyone who supports our work can help is by pitching in what you can afford by becoming an APA Recurring Donor Hero. It's simple and easy and impactful. It's what we need the MOST at this time.
Thanks to the 200+ Heroes who have already signed up. And thanks to the 400+ other donors who support us regularly.
