Here's pictures of our visit last week at Haciendas at Grace Village. Our wonderful volunteer, Kandy, took Chuck--a recent grad of our Southern New Mexico PAWS prison training program--to visit with the residents at all four buildings of the facility to spread doggy cheer and luv. ❤️🐾❤️ (See videos in comments.) Chuck was adopted last week as well!
Friends and supporters, we still desperately need your help. For two years, we've been struggling to survive. We operate what is akin to a small business that receives no government assistance. And we are only one big disaster away from having to close our doors. It's a scary place to be.
PLEASE help us keep our vital programs running by becoming an APA Sustaining Donor Hero in any amount your budgets can spare if you have not done so already. With the help of hundreds (or thousands!) of our supporters, we can continue on for future decades.

Sleepovers aren't only for dogs! We allow our adult cats to go on them, too.
Sleepovers allow you to take an adult large dog or cat home for a week to see if the animal might fit well in your home. We sometimes grant extensions as well.
Brownie went on a sleepover yesterday. Let's hope this lovable lug has found his furrever home. Our Sleepovers lead to successful adoptions more than 80% of the time!! 🐾❤️😻

Our in-house Southern New Mexico PAWS Team does a great job. On Mondays, they do doggy playgroups in our yard. These play times help dogs become more social, and we also learn about their preferences, etc., so we can better match them to their new families.

BIG congrats to recent Southern New Mexico PAWS grad Chuck on his adoption today!

Welcome to our new community intakes who went to a foster home today because they are small, sweet babies. These cute boys will be available for adoption in a month or so.
DAC ... we desperately NEED your help. We have 165 recurring donors right now. We need 500+ to grow the surplus we need to survive. We have thousands of people we've helped locally and 6500+ animals we've rescued in this community. We need everyone who supports us to pitch in. If all donated $5 a month, it would be a blessing.

Join us tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. with our friends at Hot 103, our spectacular host Monica, and shy Doug--our Pet-of-the-Week (POW). Doug is a recent grad of our Southern New Mexico PAWS prison training program. He's is a young adult who grew up so sheltered that he's very shy with new people/situations at first. But, this shy boy deserves a chance to show you his true colors--which are as wonderful as he is.
Come see all our cats/kittens and dogs at our adoption center at 537 N. Solano Dr. on Tues/Wed/Thurs/Sat 11 to 3 or by appointment; 575-571-4654; apalascruces.org

We are so happy to report that sweet Violet was adopted today! She recently had major dental work and had 7 teeth removed. She went to a home with a senior cat where she'll enjoy much wet food. She's so much happier now, too!! 😻

Some of our building needs right now include plumbing services from Sun City as well as the need to replace our catio air conditioner. We got a quote from Sun City for it, and the project will cost $4K.
These are the types of expenses that are constant when you own and run an animal rescue building. And we don't have much surplus funding right now.
When you pitch in as a sustaining donor, you help us to grow our surplus funds to handle all necessary items like these, address expensive emergencies, and provide the best veterinary and in-house care for our animals.
We have 165 recurring donors right now. We need 500+ to grow the surplus. We have thousands of people we've helped locally and 6500+ animals we've rescued in this community. We need everyone who supports us to pitch in. If all donated $5 a month, it would be a blessing.

Our Mission and Vision for DAC

Our mission is to help Dona Ana County reach our No Kill goal to eliminate the unnecessary killing of companion animals via progressive & friendly animal-welfare programs and services. Our vision is that our efforts will help transform our community to improve the quality of life for companion animals and greatly reduce the number of abandoned and homeless animals impounded and killed at our municipal shelter.
