Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley We provide a range of progressive animal services to support our community. If you make a mistake, admit it and correct it quickly.

We are the only open-admission municipal shelter in Las Cruces and Doña Ana County, dedicated to reuniting lost pets with their owners and finding homes for those in need. Inappropriate social media posts may lead to dismissal as a volunteer and/or removal as a social media editor or administrator on behalf of the ASCMV. Inappropriate posts include (but are not limited to) those that are offensive

, discriminatory, false, confidential, derogatory, defamatory, unprofessional, or disclose non-public information about ASCMV operations, personnel, or volunteers. Inappropriate posts also include unauthorized photographs of the ASCMV premises (public or non-public areas), property, animals, off-site events, personnel, or volunteers. Additional guidelines:
• Ensure photos are appropriate and that non-ASCMV-affiliated people are not tagged without their permission.
• If you engage in dialogue on an ASCMV social media site, be polite, respectful, and use professional language. This includes making sure to the best of your ability to use complete (but not run-on) sentences, proper spelling, correct punctuation and grammar, and stay on topic—as you would in any professional written exchange.
• Do not disclose any personal information about ASCMV staff or volunteers. If you see confidential information posted by someone else, immediately notify a member of the ASCMV management team.
• If you are not sure you have authorization to make a public announcement or disclosure on behalf of the ASCMV—don’t. Ask a member of the ASCMV management team.
• Remember, once a post is out there, you can’t get it back.

Exciting update! We are approaching 150 adoptions for our August Clear the Shelters special! But we still have more ready to find their furever homes, including our adorable puppies! Meet some of our adoptable pups: Scout ( #93468), Katie ( #93138), Cody ( #93468), and Gunther ( #92088)! They’re all fantastic options during our August Clear The Shelter special.

A special thank you to Pam Moralde, who came out to capture stunning photos of our puppies that needed updated shots. We also had fantastic support from some of our regular volunteers and guest volunteers from the Air Force Recruits. Your talents and hard work helps showcase these sweet faces and find them loving homes, which truly make a difference!

Another heartfelt thank you to our amazing volunteers! Over the past few weeks, our dedicated volunteers have rolled up their sleeves and helped us give our furry friends some much-needed baths.

In a shelter environment where animals come in daily from various circumstances, managing disease is crucial to keeping everyone as healthy as possible. Thanks to the hard work and commitment of volunteers working alongside staff, we were able to implement additional measures to swiftly address a recent increase in giardia. Baths are crucial in managing the spread and aiding in recovery.

We’re happy to say that we’re back to business as usual, and it’s all thanks to the vigilance and support of our incredible volunteers and staff. Your efforts make a world of difference in the lives of our animals!

Ginger's adventurous spirit drives her to explore her surroundings and seek affection once she feels safe. She adores gentle pets and playful nibbles that showcase her affectionate nature. Ginger would thrive in a calm, loving home where she can continue to build her confidence and become your cherished companion.

Meet Coral ( #89047), a sweet 7-year-old pup who has been patiently waiting for her furever home since January and is a great option for Clear the Shelters. She may blend into the crowd, but once you get to know her, you’ll see she’s a true “helper” dog! In playgroup, Coral shines like a rock star, effortlessly matching play styles and diffusing tense energy. She has been a loyal companion to her kennel mate all year and is overdue to find a loving family!

Recently, Coral enjoyed some exciting field trips! While she may not be the biggest fan of car rides, she worked through it. She loved relaxing in the backyard, watching TV, and even indulged in a refreshing poochie cone! She kept her field trip buddies laughing when she leapt into the driver’s seat during one trip, and on another, she insisted on standing right between her human and the kitchen counter while he was cooking, hoping for a tasty morsel to drop!

Here’s what we have learned about Coral so far:
- Personality: Smart, confident, and affectionate. She’s a curious girl who loves to follow her humans everywhere!
- Training: Very attentive and eager to please. She’s a quick learner, which is great for training.
- Playtime: Coral enjoys gentle play and has bursts of puppiness, with joyful jumps and sprints!
- Social Skills: Polite around other dogs and even spotted some cats without a fuss.

The Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley (ASCMV) is seeking a passionate and strategic Executive Director to lead our center. This role involves overseeing operations, managing staff, and promoting animal welfare in our community.

Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years in animal shelter management, including 2 years in a supervisory role
- Strong leadership, communication, and budgeting skills

Salary: $117,589 – $172,224, plus benefits and relocation assistance for out-of-area candidates.
