Meet Chopper! 🐶💙

Chopper is a loving dog with a big personality, but anxiety often got the best of him. When he became overwhelmed, he would try to escape his yard, putting himself at risk of getting lost or injured.

Thankfully, Chopper's family enrolled him in the Doña Ana County Humane Society's Ruff to Ready program. Through positive reinforcement training and guidance from a professional trainer, Chopper learned new coping skills, gained confidence, and began replacing his escape behaviors with positive ones.

Today, Chopper is happier, more secure, and safely at home with the family who loves him.

The Ruff to Ready program provides free basic behavior training for recently adopted shelter dogs and foster dogs from the ASCMV or ACTion Programs for Animals.The program helps pets overcome common behavioral challenges so they can thrive in their new homes.

Because every dog deserves the chance to succeed—and every family deserves the support to help them get there.

Kindniss has always had a gentle heart, but after suffering a broken leg, her future became uncertain.🐾🐶

Her dog-dad was devastated, knowing she needed immediate veterinary care but worried about how they would afford the treatment she desperately needed. Thanks to the Doña Ana County Humane Society's Animal Relief Fund and the Schumacher Veterinary Clinic Schumacher Grant, Kindniss received the care she needed to begin her journey toward healing.💙🐶🐾
