Summary
A volunteer writes:
Grayson Da Great is a super senior gal with a mysterious history...A new tenant discovered the little lady in the basement of her building(what was she doing there and apparently for years???) and started taking care of her. Grayson did not look too great though and the Good Samaritan decided to bring her to safety to the Manhattan Care Center. Like any cat with a very advanced age, Grayson comes with a few chronic issues that the veterinary team is helping with. Grayson is quite thin, all matted, has senior teeth and now was found to have a UTI and CKD. Her appetite is good though and she shines with a very sweet personality. She is quiet, a bit subdued but really likes to be brushed, petted and talked too(see her video). We are just asking one thing for sweet senior Grayson:to make her golden years really gold, to offer her a soft bed, tasty food and a safe, quiet and loving place, something she likely has been lacking for years. Grayson is waiting for her hero at the Manhattan Care Center!
What my friends at ACC say about me:
Grayson Da Great is lying in the back of her kennel, resting her head on her front paws, body tense. When the kennel door is opened and she is spoken to, she looks up towards the assessor with slightly dilated pupils. Petting is attempted and although she remains tense, she tolerates all petting, leaning in just slightly when pet on the head and cheeks. She flinches a bit when she is pet down her back and sides but does not show signs of escalation. Full pickup is not attempted to reduce stress as she is being treated for a medical condition. She is tolerant of light pressure applied to her sides and under her chest but remains tense. She will return slow blinks and continues to tolerate further petting on the head and cheeks, leaning in slightly.
Grayson Da Great tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in fearful cat behavior.
