***UPDATE! Thank you all for your offers! Just a few minutes ago, we got word that the owner surfaced, who had lost his girl on Christmas Day in Tijuana. They are now reunited, and NCWR will no longer be taking in this pretty girl. We wish her owner and her the best! ******

We need some help in SoCal and looking for possible options!

It's been a while since we have been asked to help with a Weimaraner from Mexico. We are not sure what day yet, but once she is cleared to cross over, we will need a transporter just south of San Diego on the US side. Then we need a foster or help with transport north. We know we don't have a lot of info on this, but need a place to start. If you want to be part of a true "rescue", then let us know! We will look at all offers! IRIE IS NOW IN A PLACE SHE CALLS HOME!

5 year old beautiful Irma came to us towards the end of October. We had her in a foster home (Thank you James and Dana!) in Elverta, and soon they learned that maybe she was not so great with other females in the home, but so sweet in every other way. We moved her to another foster with no dogs.(Thank you Rosie!) It was getting closer to Christmas, and with them leaving for the holiday, we had to move her again to yet another foster. (Thank you Eric & Reuben!) This time, we knew we MAY have the perfect forever home for her. She was more than ready, and we really don't like having to move our Weims around....but the holidays make it tough!

On Dec. 25th, then Irma, did not know it, and just how good her present was Santa was going to be! But in two days she would be meeting her possible new humans. That day came, and they knew she was their girl. The family were past adopters of two Weims going back to 2014 & 2015, and the home seemed empty without them. Irma became IRIE! We also want to thank April, who took her for one night and helped to get her to her new family.

Irie's new family consists of Mom, Dad & 2 human sisters and they LOVE her to pieces! The family loves the outdoors. Hiking especially! Mom says Irie loves cuddles, car rides and being silly, but her favorite is just being with her humans. "Irie is honestly the best, settling in very well".

ANOTHER HAPPY ADOPTION!

We were running a little behind on our adoption updates, but just a couple more to share as we wind down 2025.

Three year old INDY, formerly Jasmine, came to us in September due to a change in the previous family's work schedule. Her foster became a "Foster Fail" officially on 10/25/25.

Her new owner tells us she is the best dog they could possibly ask for. Indy LOVES cuddling and spending time with the family, and especially with her 3 year old human sister. Indy is great with all of the other animals on the property, including the kitties! We thought you would all enjoy this story from Indy's new Dad!

"One funny story that really captures her personality: Indy is pretty mouthy but incredibly gentle. About three months ago someone accidentally left the chicken coop unlocked. We found her calmly walking around the yard with a full-grown chicken in her mouth. The bird, aside from being very confused by her unscheduled tour of the yard, was completely unharmed."

TRANSPORT OR FOSTER (1-2 NIGHTS ONLY) HELP NEEDED FOR TODAY 12/28 for one of our females!

TRANSPORT would be Santa Cruz towards the Fresno area. This can be broken up. Or FOSTER would be just short term, possibly just 1 or 2 nights, anywhere near Santa Cruz.

ADOPTION UPDATE!
How do your 4 legged Grey kids love the snow? WE'D LOVE FOR YOU TO SHARE SOME PICS!

Here we have 4 year old Bodhi who came to us in mid September. He was surrendered due to a change in the family's schedule that was not working well in Bodhi's behalf. They made the painful decision to have NCWR find him the home that this king deserved.

Bodhi initially had a tough two weeks, but once he went to his forever home in Kirkwood in mid October, his depression lifted, and he is now part of the community. Dad says he's super well behaved, loves meeting both new human and dog friends, and as you can see....he LOVES the snow! Have a GRAYT life Bodhi....you lucky boy!

Stella is saved!!!! NCWR broke her out of the shelter with just 24 hours to spare before she was to be euthanized due to overcrowding. Thank you to Robin for transporting, Frances & Ernie for opening their home to give Stella a safe place to land until she can be moved to her foster, and thank you to Brooke, who works at the shelter, who was desperately looking for help for Stella. Thank you, NCWR Volunteers, Stella is only safe because we have amazing people like you! Just look at Stella, so sweet and so happy to be out of the shelter!

Little Miss Irma needs to hitch another ride to a foster closer to her potential adopter! She has a meet and greet just after Christmas, just in time for a new family in the New Year 🎊. She needs to get from Petaluma to Santa Cruz any time December 18-20. We know the holidays can be hectic, but if you could help us pull off another holiday miracle, we'd be so grateful 💗

A Christmas miracle & Transport Help needed:
This is Stella. She is a beautiful, sweet silver lab/weim mix who, unfortunately, found herself in a shelter. We typically can't take on mixes, as it's already tough placing full-breed Weimaraners, but Stella has a euthanasia date of 12/16 unless someone rescues her. We couldn't let that happen....so hold on, Stella, we're coming to get you! We already have a foster lined up for Stella, and more info to come as we learn more about her from her foster family. Welcome to the NCWR, Stella!
***TRANSPORT NEEDED! Can someone help transport Stella from the Stanislaus Shelter to Livermore, where her Foster will meet for pickup tomorrow, Monday??

A (late) Birthday wish to the Pinwheel 5!

Remember these puppies?? They earned their name Pinwheel 5 litter after we posted this video of them woofing down their food, in a pinwheel style! We had so many applications for these adorable puppies!

Time sure does fly, and they are now 2 years old as of 12/6 and all are so gorgeous, and we have heard nothing but great things about all of them!

CHOMPER lives on a lot of land near Napa. HANK, with the awesome cowlick, lives in the mountains near Tahoe. STERLING has the best of two worlds, with homes in Concord & land in Reno. And the girls....MIA travels to cool places, and SCOUT has a great home in Sacramento!
