Was growing these beets for their seeds. Disease struck! So we pulled them up. I think this one wanted to tell me that beets are good for my heart. This one looks like the organ. If you look back, you’ll see another one that looked like a Valentine heart.

Now, I don’t like beets. But the fact that I pulled 2 that were hearts is making me think I might need to choke some down. I like growing beets. I do not like eating them. Guess I better put on my big girl pants and go in.

When Earth tells you what you need, ya betta lissen. I hear you mama. I hear you. 💚💚💛💛♥️♥️

This weather has been on some other biz entirely this spring. Say hello to the late bolting Big Daddy Greasy Collard blossom. Unfortunately, the fall sown spring crop has failed. But there’s some real beauty in the failure.

Collards that are planted in the fall can survive a Maryland winter and live into the spring. The transition from the cold temps and decreased sunlight of winter to the warmer and longer days of spring push the plant to begin making seeds. These blooms will turn into seed pods. Aadly, the changes in weather have also brought about pests and plant disease 😔. These won’t make it into our CSA tho season. We’ll try again though!😉

Everyday is Earth Day! We’ve only got the one home. Here’s some ways to celebrate. Thanks OurSpace World for this work.

Let us just take a moment here. Pause and inhale real deep. Take in the verdant lettuce and know that it’s got your body. It’s low in calories, incredibly hydrating, and it’s got more vitamins and nutrients than you’d think. A, K, Anthocyanins, and Lutein.

Best part is that our Real Food Real Farmers CSA will be featuring these tasty bibb and buterhead lettuces. There’s still a few more spots. Sign up today!
