*** EQUINE DISEASE ALERT ***

USDA reported to Clemson Livestock-Poultry Health that a 2-year-old horse in Charleston County, SC, tested positive for Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus and West Nile virus (WNV). The onset of clinical signs was more consistent with EEE. The horse's neurological decline led to it being euthanized.

We recommend you work with your veterinarian to develop a vaccination program tailored to your animals' needs.

Please be aware that a case of West Nile has been diagnosed in the upstate of SC. If it's been 6 months or longer since your horse's West Nile vaccine, a booster is recommended. Contact us or your regular veterinarian for further assistance!
