Happy Friday, friends! 🎉 The weekend is finally here, and I’m celebrating with a little backyard magic: my Honeycrisp apple tree is already showing fruit—yes, already! 🍎✨

Typically, Honeycrisp apple trees take 2 to 8 years to produce their first apples, depending on the tree's size and rootstock. Dwarf varieties can bear fruit in 2 to 3 years, while standard-size trees may take up to 8 years . So, seeing fruit this early is a delightful surprise!

Some young trees can bloom and produce fruit earlier than expected, especially if they were summer pruned or experienced growing tip damage during the year .

This unexpected bounty is a sweet reminder that nature often has delightful surprises in store.

I wish you all a weekend filled with joy and unexpected blessings!

Yesterday, we faced a heartbreaking loss on our homestead as one of our beloved chickens passed away. I never anticipated the depth of emotion I'd feel, but this experience has shown me just how much these animals mean to us.

Raising chickens isn't just about the eggs; it's about the bonds we form and the joy they bring into our lives. Each bird has its own unique personality, and losing one leaves a void that's deeply felt. It's important to allow ourselves to grieve these losses, no matter how small they may seem to others.

To our dear hen, thank you for the memories and the happiness you brought to our homestead. You will be missed more than words can express.

🌸 Chive Blossom Love Affair 🌸

I can't get enough of these gorgeous lavender puffballs! Chive blossoms aren't just beautiful—they're edible and bursting with a delicate, oniony flavor that adds a subtle zing to any dish.

One of my favorite ways to savor their essence? Chive Blossom Vinegar! It's a simple infusion that captures their flavor and transforms into a stunning pink hue. Perfect for elevating salads, marinades, and more!

🌿 Chive Blossom Vinegar Recipe:

Gently rinse and dry about 2 cups of fresh chive blossoms.

Warm 1½ cups of white wine vinegar (avoid boiling).

Place the blossoms in a clean jar and pour the warm vinegar over them.

Seal the jar and let it sit in a cool, dark place for 1–2 weeks.

Strain out the blossoms and transfer the infused vinegar to a clean bottle.
