Any guesses on the sneaky little leaf artist responsible for drawing perfect circles all over my lilac leaves??? They're really a natural wonder. A free bunch of dried lavender to the first person that messages me with the correct answer. Dear Ms. Mantis, I am compelled to express my sense of betrayal and disappointment. Despite my considerate treatment of you, including leaving a section of lavender unpruned for an extended period and carefully waiting for you to move before pruning, I was shocked to receive a bite from you. I must stress that, although my pruning tools may have appeared scary, they posed no threat, and I had been patiently waiting for you to move to a different location. I am both surprised and disappointed by your actions, which were not only unnecessary but also contrary to the general understanding of praying mantises as non-aggressive insects.

This is the closest look I've ever gotten at a borer. So, what's the natural predator of these little critters? Wasps! Yeah, wasps can be super scary, but let's be real, borers are the real monsters here.
I believe this is a male peach tree borer … the most deadly insect for our peach/plum/cherry trees.
