When in doubt, double it!

Phantom and Figment are expecting!
This pairing was done in part for wonderfully tempered babies, but also to work towards figuring out what their coats are. The current speculation is Satin Velveteen, so we're hoping we get some doubles.

They carry or hide Pearl, Merle, mink, Russian Blue, Harley, dumbo, and Satin2.

Another surprise?!

Dwarves JuiceBox (Russian Blue Berkshire) and Fanta (Russian Blue Agouti Self) both carry Harley apparently! They gave me not 1, but 4!

These babies will likely be staying here to establish more Harley in the dwarf lines.

When test breeding Huxley (Agouti Rexoid Berkshire) to Prada (Aussie Mink + ? Hooded) for Chocolate and Velveteen, they produced this BE Siamese (poss. Himi) doe.

Turns out neither parent is chocolate, so it's back to the drawing board with Pradas mystery colors. However, Huxley is Velveteen!

These babies will be staying as it is a new line/outcross. This is to monitor health and temperament.

Welp, Lolly had a hidden secret! She went into Embryonic Diapause when she was bred to Gumball. Three weeks after her first litter, these 9 👀😳 pups were born!?! Her original 5 were moved into the big kid cage with foster moms and other dwarf babies and are doing great. She's doing absolutely fine with this second litter and is a beast, but I am constantly monitoring her and babies for any changes.

Embryonic Diapause means that the fertilized eggs in one uterine horn (rats have 2) immediately began development while the other uterine horn eggs went into a "stasis" until the first litter was born. Then that second uterine horn began development right away! This is a great feature for insuring survival of litters and procreation in the wild, but it can really throw some plans in the rat room 😅
