🎄❤️ Cheez-it’s Christmas Miracle ❤️🎄
Yesterday, a client came in with their 2.5-year-old orange tabby, Cheez-it, who hadn’t eaten on his own in over 10 days. They only had $30. But when we saw him in distress, we made the choice to treat him first and worry about finances later.
X-rays revealed multiple foreign objects throughout his digestive system. He needed emergency surgery, and Dr. Allie moved her afternoon appointments, skipped lunch, and went straight into surgery, warning his family that the outcome wasn’t guaranteed.
During surgery, we removed 0.25 lbs of hair ties, beads, necklaces, a sticker, and other items, plus fluid from his belly. After hours of careful work and prayers, Cheez-it finally came out of sedation. We cheered when we saw his color returning!
Today, Cheez-it is alert, moving around, and slowly recovering at home, though he hasn’t eaten on his own yet. His family will help him regain his strength. 🐾
Cases like Cheez-it remind us why we do this work, but veterinary care is costly. If you’d like to help cover Cheez-it’s care (or another pet in need), consider donating to our Paws Plus Promise fund. Every donation goes directly to helping pets in crisis and is tax-deductible through our 501(c)(3).
