Today is National Pet Memorial Day. This day of remembrance celebrates those loved ones that have gone to play over the rainbow bridge 🌈. Among many personal pets, Lake Emma spent today thinking of our Mika 🐾 our beloved hospital cat that we said goodbye to in January.

A Win for Early Detection: Jasmine’s Story 💙

Jasmine came into our hospital for her annual wellness visit with Dr. Tolson. Her owner opted to utilize our NuQ Cancer screening test as part of her annual.

NuQ is a simple blood test Lake Emma is proud to offer with wellness visits that screens for 7 different common cancers that can occur in our canine loved ones.

This screening provides a “High” “Moderate” and “Low” risk result offering us the opportunity to look further in cases where symptoms are not even present yet.

Jasmine was doing well at her visit and had no health concerns, and still, her NuQ screening result came back with “High” suspicion. After scheduling Jasmine for an exploratory abdominal ultrasound a mass was found on her liver. Jasmine’s family immediately followed up with Animal Cancer Care Clinic and had the mass removed.

Two weeks later Jasmine’s follow up NuQ had low suspicion and she began chemotherapy treatments and is now doing well. We are so happy for Jasmine and her family and are grateful to the NuQ Cancer Screening test for this success story 💙🐾

May is Arthritis Awareness Month 🦴

Many people are familiar with what arthritis is and have even experienced it with their own bodies or a loved one’s but would you recognize the signs in your own pets? 🐾

Arthritis is progressive and can start in both young and senior pets. Some pets, especially cats, can be quiet about their symptoms. They show us pain by changing their routine, jumping less, grooming themselves less, and more.

There are things that we, as caretakers, can do to ease their pain. Talking to your doctor about supplements, anti inflammatories, or cold laser therapy can help. ⚡️🚨

Cold laser therapy is a non invasive treatment that Lake Emma is proud to provide. With many different applications it can help with anything from wounds to arthritis pain. With a simple consult with a doctor we are able to determine what therapy your pet needs and set them up with a treatment plan. Consider cold laser therapy for your pets’ chronic pain management! ❤️‍🩹💊
