🐾 FRIDAY STARTED BRIGHT AND EARLY AT THE RANCH RESCUE!

Our Friday kicked off at 6:30 AM with transport, followed by more trapping to fill several TNR surgery spots! 🐈✂️

A huge THANK YOU to Randy for bringing us four kitties and continuing to make a difference in your new community!

Randy Halvorsrod remember when you relocated and said you weren’t doing cats anymore? 🤣🤣 Well, we see how that worked out! Once a cat rescuer, ALWAYS a cat rescuer! ❤️🐾

To everyone who continues to step up, take action, and become part of the solution to our community cat crisis, THANK YOU!

And to those who have generously sponsored a TNR kitty, your support is making this possible! Every surgery means one less cat contributing to the cycle of unwanted litters, suffering, and overcrowded rescues.

This is what positive change looks like! It takes teamwork, dedication, early mornings, and people willing to do more than just talk about the problem.

🐾 If they are not born, they will not need rescue.
If you would like to sponsor a TNR kitty and change a life….

🚨🚨 STOP!!! FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK WHO AREN’T LISTENING!!! 🚨🚨

🛑 DO NOT TRAP A CAT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PLAN IN PLACE!!!

We cannot make this any clearer!

THERE IS NOWHERE IN COLUMBIA COUNTY OR LAKE CITY THAT YOU CAN JUST DROP OFF A FERAL CAT BECAUSE YOU DECIDED TO TRAP IT!

Not the shelter.
Not the Humane Society.
Not Animal Control.
And NOT The Ranch Rescue!

STOP TRAPPING CATS AND THEN EXPECTING SOMEONE ELSE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO WITH THEM!

A feral cat is NOT something you trap first and figure out later!

✅ YOU MUST HAVE A PLAN BEFORE YOU SET THAT TRAP!

That means:

🐾 A CONFIRMED spay/neuter surgery appointment.

🐾 A safe location to hold the cat before and after surgery.

🐾 A plan for appropriate recovery.

🐾 A plan to return the cat to its original location after recovery, when safe and appropriate.

NO SURGERY APPOINTMENT? DO NOT SET THE TRAP!

And let’s address something else!

⚖️ LOCAL ORDINANCES MATTER!

Columbia County Code §18-75(b) and Lake City Code §14-55(b) provide a three-working-day holding period for certain impounded stray or nuisance animals. These provisions do not automatically apply to every privately trapped TNR cat.

You cannot assume that trapping a cat gives you the right to dump it somewhere, relocate it wherever you please, or make it someone else’s responsibility.

THE RANCH RESCUE IS NOT YOUR BACKUP PLAN BECAUSE YOU FAILED TO MAKE ONE!

We work tirelessly to help community cats through responsible Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR). But we cannot magically create surgery appointments, available space, or placement options because someone decided to trap first and ask questions later.

Every unnecessary trapping situation creates more stress for the animal and more pressure on an already overwhelmed rescue system.

TRAPPING WITHOUT A PLAN IS NOT RESCUE. IT IS CREATING ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT THE CAT NOW HAS TO SUFFER THROUGH!

If you genuinely want to help, DO IT RESPONSIBLY!

SCHEDULE FIRST. PLAN FIRST. TRAP AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME.

And please, for the love of these animals, STOP MAKING YOUR LACK OF PLANNING SOMEONE ELSE’S EMERGENCY!

🐾WELCOME, LITTLE MUNCHKIN

This precious little one must have gotten displaced and somehow ended up in a yard with dogs. Thankfully, some caring individuals recognized that this baby needed help and took the time to reach out to Columbia County, FL Animal Enforcement. Once again the officers sense of urgency saved this little grey potato. 💕

Our amazing foster didn’t hesitate to step up and open their heart and home to this little munchkin, providing a safe place to land and a chance at a better life.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who cared enough to get involved, to Columbia County Animal Enforcement for responding, and to our wonderful foster for always being there when we need them! ❤️

This is what happens when a community works together. Little lives are saved! 🐾

When you’re out trapping in a backyard, sitting in a chair holding a string to a drop trap, and two rounds from a gun go about 5 feet in front of you, just missing the kitten, the trap and ME! (You could hear the rounds traveling through the bushes, so it was not just any ole BB gun)

‼️WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE.

The gentleman who shot the weapon into his neighbors property is a VA Primary Care doctor here in Lake City. His reply to the deputies “It’s just a BB gun” and “I don’t want cats on my property”. Now, look at the photo, that kitten was sitting on the fence owned by the lady I was trapping for, not on the doctors property.
Dr. Robert Bell Sir, You fired out your back sliding door, aimed for a kitten sitting on your neighbor’s fence, and those rounds missed a disabled veteran by just feet. 📍Not to mention, your neighbor was sitting on her porch at the time you decided to allow stray rounds cross her property. Not to mention, your wife stated in the past “oh it’s just a cap gun to scare them away” and you allow your grandchildren to shoot.

I paid a visit to the VA this morning, this Dr is at another location, not the main hospital so I will see his supervisor later today.

🐾 HOW WE SPEND OUR MORNINGS

Doing what we love most… helping those who need help and supporting the people in our community who are doing the right thing! ❤️

Another mama cat will receive TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), ending the cycle of unwanted litters, while her precious kittens will have the opportunity for a better life. 🐈‍⬛🐾

These babies didn’t ask to be born into an uncertain world outdoors, struggling just to survive. They deserve safety, love, and a chance at a bright future.

This is why we do what we do. Every mama spayed means fewer kittens born into hardship. Every kitten rescued is another life given a second chance.

Thank you to those in our community who step up, care enough to make a difference, and reach out for help. Together, we are changing lives, one cat at a time. ❤️

The Amputation was a success and Buck is now recovering. Stay tuned for updates as he starts his healing journey. 💙

🐾❤️ MEET BUCK — A LITTLE FIGHTER WHO DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE!

Sometimes rescue is about more than saving a life. It’s about people coming together and refusing to give up on an animal in need.

Meet Buck! 🐶💙

Buck was rescued by the officers of Columbia County Animal Enforcement. When they arrived on scene, they noticed a serious wound to his back left leg.

Buck was rushed to North Florida Animal Rescue, where he was evaluated. Unfortunately, his injury appears to be consistent with a gunshot wound, and his leg has a complete fracture that will require amputation. 💔

Columbia County, FL Animal Enforcement didn’t give up on him! ❤️

Knowing Buck needed additional help, the officers reached out to The Ranch Rescue in hopes that we could find a rescue willing to step up for this sweet boy.

We immediately reached out to Carole Pet Haven Rescue who graciously agreed to assist and provide a medical foster home where Buck can recover following his surgery. 🐾

We want to take a moment to recognize some incredible people.

💙 To the officers of Columbia County Animal Enforcement : THANK YOU for your compassion, dedication, and for going above and beyond for an animal who desperately needed someone to fight for him. You didn’t just do your job. You made sure Buck had a fighting chance.

❤️ To the amazing team at North Florida Animal Rescue: THANK YOU for once again going above and beyond to provide medical care to an animal in need.

🐾 To Carole of Pet Haven Rescue. THANK YOU for opening your heart and stepping up when Buck needed someone most.

🏥 The Ranch Rescue is transporting Buck to Georgia where he will receive his surgery.

THIS is what rescue is supposed to look like!

Animal Enforcement , veterinary professionals, rescues, and fosters working together for one common goal — SAVING LIVES!

Buck may lose a leg, but he has gained an entire team of people who believe his life is worth saving. ❤️

🙏 WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP BUCK?

If you would like to make a donation toward Buck’s medical care and recovery, we would greatly appreciate your support. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us continue giving animals like Buck the second chances they deserve.
