A handsome Rottweiler with a face you can't forget and a heart that somehow managed to capture every one of ours.

Enrico came to us as a stray. Somewhere along the way, he had lost his home, his people, and the life he once knew. We waited for someone to come looking for him. For a phone call. For a familiar voice to say, "That's my boy!"

But that call never came.

Nobody claimed Enrico.

What Enrico didn't know was that the moment he walked through our doors, he had already found people who would love him.

And boy, did we fall hard.

In fact, Enrico has spent more time in our office than he has in his kennel! Somewhere along the way, this big, handsome Rottweiler decided that the best place in the world was right at our feet, stretched out and waiting for another belly rub.

And believe us, he's getting plenty of those!

He's not quite giving kisses yet, but we're working on it. In fact, our goal is to have this big boy handing out kisses before his forever family even gets here!

There's just something about Enrico. Maybe it's those soulful eyes. Maybe it's the way he settles in beside us like he's been part of the family forever. Or maybe it's simply that he came to us needing a little extra love, and we had plenty to give.

We're wild about every dog who comes through our doors. But this one? This one just needed us. And somewhere along the way, we realized we needed him right back. ❤️

Enrico has become one of those dogs who reminds us why we do what we do.

At Ark, we know we aren't supposed to keep them. Our job is to love them, care for them, and prepare them for the families waiting to find them.

But sometimes, that's easier said than done.

And when Enrico's adoption day comes, there may be tears.

Not because we're sad to see him go, but because we know just how much he deserves the beautiful life waiting on the other side of our doors.

That's the bittersweet beauty of animal rescue. We love them like they're ours, knowing all along that we're just holding their hearts until the right family comes along.

Enrico arrived as a stray that nobody came to claim.

But he will leave as a dog who was loved beyond measure.

And somewhere out there is a family who doesn't yet know that a big, handsome Rottweiler named Enrico is about to change their lives.

We hope they'll give him a soft place to land, plenty of belly rubs, and all the love this beautiful boy has been waiting for.

Enrico… just promise us one thing. When you're stretched out at somebody else's feet, soaking up all those belly rubs, don't forget the people who loved you first at Ark.

Because, sweet boy, we will never forget you. ❤️🐾
