Meet Ruby (aka Zenny) she is looking for Her Forever Home!

Puppy Temperament Types at Hoosier Canines 🐾

Between 5-6 weeks old we take notes on each pup’s energy, play style, human focus, startle/recovery, confidence on new surfaces, and how easily they settle. Just before selection time we do a short, playful temperament evaluation (recall, retrieve interest, gentle restraint, novel object/sound, simple problem-solving) and pair it with real-life checks like grooming touches, crate time, and calm family hangouts. Together, these snapshots show each puppy’s natural vibe. Every pup is unique, but most lean into one of these four vibes:

• Laid-Back, Gentle, Easygoing: Relaxed observers who love a cozy nap after a short play session. Great for quieter homes or smaller spaces and they grow in confidence as they mature.

• Balanced, Adaptable, Playful: Friendly, social, and game for fetch or the couch. Their go-with-the-flow nature fits most families who enjoy both outings and downtime.

• Fun-Loving, Active, Goofy: Up for adventures and belly laughs, they mingle happily with people and pets. They love playtime but can settle when the fun is over.

• High-Energy, Adventurous, Spirited: First to explore and the last to tire, they thrive with daily exercise and brain games. With consistent training, even city living can work, just keep them busy.

This is called "WHALE EYE" and it's a critical stress signal! 🚨

When you can see the whites of your Bernedoodle's eyes, they're telling you:
⚠️ "I'm stressed or anxious"
⚠️ "I'm uncomfortable with this situation"
⚠️ "Please give me space"

This signal often appears BEFORE more obvious stress responses - so catching it early can prevent escalation! But here's the thing: whale eye is just ONE of many signals!

Your pup is constantly communicating through:
👁️ Eye signals (ever seen "whale eye"?)
👂 Ear positions
👄 Mouth & facial expressions
🦴 Overall body posture

Understanding these signals helps you:
