Lifelong Friends Pet Adoptions We refuse to participate in the killing of hundreds of healthy, homeless animals that takes place every 60 seconds in America.

No-kill pet rescue center dedicated to preventing animal suffering, rescuing and caring for stray and abandoned dogs and cats and finding homes for these animals. 501c(3) In the rare event that a cat or dog has a terminal disease, such as cancer, or it has extensive injuries from which it cannot recover, the animal will be humanely euthanized to prevent suffering. We are a volunteer organization,

and it has been your continued support and compassion that has allowed us to manage animal rescue challenges, operate and maintain our facility, and facilitate hundreds of adoptions over the past twenty years. Fact Sheet
Since 1997, Lifelong Friends has been providing a safe haven for abandoned and abused animals. Over 2,000 animals have passed through our doors. Since being founded as a no-kill pet rescue center, we have mainly been operated by volunteers. Assistance with medical treatment and spay/neuter initiatives has been made possible by funding from various grants awarded from corporations like PetSmart and agencies like LCRA and the Texas State Animal Friendly License Plate Foundation. Volunteers work hard caring for the animals and are as dedicated to improving community awareness. The rescue center has improved and expanded its facilities and operation by the grace of fundraisers like Strut Your Mutt, Amplify Austin, and the generous assistance of our many supporters. We are located in Lago Vista, Texas, approximately 15 miles northwest of Austin. Lifelong Friends is a 501(c)3 organization, so donations are tax deductible Mail donations to: Lifelong Friends Pet Adoptions P.O. Stitch is fearful of other dogs. Imagine him being housed in a shelter full of large dogs! Stitch did nothing wrong he's family had to leave. We saw his family on our camera, crying and being held lovingly by a young women. Stitch has no where to go and will be returned to us on Friday! His current foster has worked endlessly to find another foster or a home with zero prospects. We remember a time when adopters would fight over a small breed dog. PLEASE! We are looking for a home where Stitch can be an "only dog", because his current foster has family with dogs. Stitch is afraid and will bark even if put in another room. An expierenced dog owner would be a plus. Stitch is housebroken, rides best in a crate in a car. If you can help Stitch call (512)267-6876!

Playtime at Lifelong Friends! All 3 are looking for homes! Bear, Monica and Bandit. See theur bios and on line application at www.lagovistapaws.org. Adopting from Lifelong Friends enables us to make room for another local abandoned dog in need of shelter and vet care. We take our adopted pets back if for any reason you cannot keep them. We receive calls everyday requesting we take pets adopted from shelters and rescues that will not take then back for any reason. Many have a time limit! Always ask what their return policy is!
Our commitment to our pets does not end after adoption. We provide training and resources throughout our pets life. One of the fears of adoption is matching a family with a pet. Once an application is approved we offer up to a two week trial period. This alliws our pet & family timevto get to know each other. People ask do we require a fence? Answer- This is handled on a case by case basis depending on the dog & the applicant. If the dog is young and a 10 on the activity scale it could be a challenge to give them the exercise they need. A tired dog is a well behaved dog! If we have a adult dog that does not require alot of exercise walking would be just fine.
We are big supporters of the "leash law." Even the best trained dog can get lost, hit by a car or run away. One of the main reasons we intake dogs is they are loose. 100% of our dogs & cats we intake are intact. It's so important to spay/neuter your pets. It's healthier for them and keeps them from wandering. It's also healthier for your pet. Intact animals are more prone to get cancer. We have a big pet over population problem in our state and right here in our community. There are many free & low cost spaying and neutering options out there. We see the same dogs loose over and over again. If your dog is one of these get your pet spayed or neutered contact us for resources.70% of every accidental litter ends up being homeless. Dogs & cats are being euthanized all over Texas and the United States.
Put ID tags on your dogs and better yet get them microchipped! Microchipping saves lives and get your pets back home where they belong. Imagine the time that would be saved if your pet was wearing tags or microchipped? Is your pet microchip registered? Lost pets are microchipped but if the owner has not registered the chip wirh the owners contact information goes no where. Moved lately? Be sure to update your pets microchip. Both Lago Vista and Point Venture residents are required to purchase a license. This allows your pet to be returned
to you safely & faster! Use a black sharpie and write your contact information on their collar.
Can't Adopt. We need fosters! We provide fosters with food and vet care for our pet at no cost to you. Foster applications are available on line at www.lagovistapaws.org.
Donations are always needed. Our vet care is NOT free! As a 501c non-profit we recieve a 10-15% discount from the vets we work with. All our pets are spayed/neutered, UTD on shots and microchipped. We spend approx. $500 per pet for everyone we intake. The adoption fee does not cover our vet bill. We are currently have approx. 40 dogs and 20 cats in our care all from Lago Vista, Jonestown and Point Venture. We are funded by donations, fundraisers and some grants. Our Paypal button is available on our website at: www.lagovistapaws.org or checks payable to Lifelong Friends Pet Adoptions. P.O. Box 4100, Lago Vista, Tx 78645.

Bear is a young adult German Shepherd mix just over a year old, neutered male, UTD on shots & microchipped that was found right here in Lago Vista after he was found off FM1431, after he was hit by a car! He was left injured on the side of the road. Very thin, covered in fleas and starving. He also had parasites. His hip was broken, he had been that way for days, imagine the pain he must have been in? After 2 surgeries and months of rehab at Whitestone Animal Hospital, he was healthy enough to be neutered and microchipped. He loves people and other dogs, Bear has never met a stranger! His medical was covered by generous donations. We operate 100% on donations! Can't adopt?
