Just wanted to clarify some things about operations here. We have a bench by the front door for drop off donations. We are a volunteer operated 501c rescue. We are not funded by the State or City. We are 100% donation based. Our animals under our roof are from our community streets. We do not have funds for paid office staff to answer the door. We do have a volunteer that monitors our ring cameras and door bell. Your donations are important to us! We can see donations being dropped off and volunteers are in and out throughout the day & evening caring for the animals under our rescues care.
There is not a container for donations because we do not want animals dumped in them. Our driveway is very steep and the chain at the top is not meant to be uninviting to the public, but for safety reasons. Our volunteers are walking dogs across the driveway and we do not want to risk their safety or our pets by having vehicles drive down the steep driveway and accidentally hitting volunteers or our dogs. Our volunteers are there donating their time to provide direct care for the animals 7 days a week 3 times a day. We are very thankful for them! All Adoptions and accepting animals are "by appointment only". PLEASE do not be rude or yell at our volunteers for not taking animals at the door. They are not authorized to accept animals. We accept new intakes by " appointment only" based on whether we have the space and are able to provide the care that abandoned animal needs. We DO NOT accept pets there are too many abandoned animals in our community! We are happy to provide resources for placing a pet. Keep in mind all shelters and rescues are overwhelmed with animals. This is a Texas problem. Please spay & neuter your pets!
Donations of towels currently are not needed we have plenty. We do not use sheets, pillows of any kind the dogs tear them up. We can always use blankets! No comforters, electric blankets please. We use open bags of dry food as long as the bag has been sealed. We use all kinds of wet food. We do not accept food that requires a refrigerator or freezer. We use small refrigerators due to space. We use left over meds including heartworm meds, antibiotics etc. We accept gently used collars and leashes, crates and cages both metal & plastic.we do not need litter boxes & scoopers. We do have a wish list of supplies on our website at www.lagovistapaws.org We receive dozens of calls everyday. We have one volunteer returning calls, please allow 48 hours for her to call you back. Most of our volunteers work full time jobs. Thank you all for your understanding and support!

Rusty is a sweetie! He’s a 3 year old orange cutie who is great with people, cats, and dogs. He's chill, easygoing, and would be a great fit to any home.

He was found under the hood of a car by a local resident and has been waiting for his forever family to find him!

Rusty has been foster care with other cats and a dog, but is currently at our facility in Lago Vista, TX.

🐾 COCOA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME! 🐾

Cocoa is a beautiful 3-year-old Pit Bull who recently got a second chance at life after being pulled from BARC in Houston just before she was scheduled for euthanasia. Her longtime owner passed away, and through no fault of her own, Cocoa suddenly found herself without a home.

And this girl is so deserving of one. ❤️

Cocoa is a sweet, affectionate, well-socialized and incredibly smart dog who has clearly been loved and trained. She is:

🐶 House trained & kennel trained
🎓 Knows sit, stay, come, lay down, shake, drop it, leave it, back up and more
🎾 Loves toys, fetch and playing
❤️ Extremely affectionate and people-oriented
🐕 Has done well with a large female dog in her current foster home. Would do best with no cats
🍽️ Has shown no food aggression
🩺 Heartworm negative, dewormed & vaccinated for rabies

Cocoa is about 90 lbs., athletic and energetic, so she would thrive with an active person or family comfortable with a large, strong dog who can continue giving her exercise, structure and love.

She has been through a tremendous amount of change in a very short time, so we're looking for someone who will give her the patience and time she deserves to settle in and realize she's finally home for good.

Cocoa was loved. She was trained. She was socialized. She simply lost her person and needs someone new to choose her.
