🧡💛🧡 PLEASE SHARE 🧡💛🧡
The little dog that’s been running on HWY 71 for months has finally been caught and is looking for a new home!! He is around 10 pounds and actually warmed up to me very quickly once I got a leash on him. He’s super sweet. I’d say he’s about a year old- maybe less.

His “owners” have been contacted and they do not want him. They say he has had all his shots, but do not have the paperwork for it. I have an appointment for him next Monday at Spicewood Vet Clinic.

He has been given a bath and flea medication by myself.

Adoption fee will be just proof that you have paid a deposit for a spay or neuter appointment at SVC or a vet you prefer. There is a FREE spay and neuter clinic through Austin Animal Center the first weekend in April too I can send information for.

Little “Grace” has found her forever home with some wonderful clients of mine! They have decided to name her “Cassie” and I never thought I would have a dog named after me! So sweet! Cassie is the sweetest of the litter compared to her rowdy brothers. She is the one that just trots up to you and sits while giving you the biggest puppy dog eyes you’ve ever seen! We joke that she knows how to look into your soul 🩷
I trained Priscilla and Larry’s other dog years ago and this past week he came to stay with me so we could make sure they would be a good fit for one another. Despite the look on his face in the picture, I think he will be delighted to have a little sister. With brining any new dog into the pack though TAKE THINGS SLOW and that is exactly what we are doing!!

Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁🍽️🦃

We recently took in a litter of puppies that needed to be rescued from an unfortunate situation and will be working on helping these babies get the best start to life we possibly can. For the next month, I will be evaluating them and looking for suitable homes for them and wanted to put some feelers out now in case you know anyone. We have 4 boys - Turkey, Gravy, Eggnog, and Nutmeg and one girl - Grace.

We are awaiting a DNA test but we are fairly certain they are Border Collie / Belgian Malinois crosses. Two incredibly intelligent and active breeds that need training - but does very well at it and learns quickly. I may have just met these puppies but I can already tell they are going to be FUN! They are little firecrackers but also so so sweet. These dogs are not couch potatoes and will need more than a big backyard and a 15 min walk around the neighborhood. These will likely be very high drive dogs and will need to be placed in an experienced home where the dog will be trained and worked on a regular basis. They have the potential to be a truly incredible dog for someone who is interested in dog training or competing in dog sports. If you know anyone who seems like a good fit please have them reach out and I can send them an adoption application. They will likely be ready for their new homes around Christmas.

Their adoption fee will likely be just enough to cover their vaccinations and to prepay for their spay or neuter appointment since they will not be old enough when adopted. Both normal expenses that come with dog ownership anyways.

I foster independently and as you can imagine that starts to add up quickly. I have already spent $500 just in the first day of having them and plan to pay for their next round of vaccines in a few weeks. If you would like to donate or help in any way with these babies please let me know!

My last full day off was last October 🥴 so we are taking some much needed time away for the rest of the month! It’s been one week since I lost you and the pain is still greater than I had ever imagined it.

We had found the cancer earlier this month but you were doing so good. You moved slower, sure, but I was still waiting for symptoms. I thought I had months left with you, maybe weeks, but I never imagined days. Looking back now, I’m not sure why I thought more time was guaranteed.

That being said, I had thought about our last day together many many times over the years. You have to when you have an old dog.

I was prepared.

I knew two things about saying goodbye to you, that it would ruin my life and that we’d do it at our home. Because taking you to the vet was like entering the depths of a gladiator pit. I didn’t want that for your last moments. I thought I could make it peaceful and beautiful for us both.

I was prepared.

I didn’t want you to be scared or know it was coming. I wanted to hold you and I wanted to let you try chocolate and grab your fur and smell your paws and I truly thought...

I was prepared.

I wanted to have a spot picked out under the tree for you to rest. I wanted to have a stamp of your paw print and a little tuff of your white and brown hair. I wanted to have an album of happier times ready to look back on when I was sad.

I was prepared.

I never pictured I’d be boarding a plane getting that unthinkable call and having to make an even more unthinkable decision so far away from you. I truly never imagined this happening without me there.
I was prepared… but I wasn’t ready. But can you ever be ready to say goodbye to your best friend?

I want to write more about the wonderful dog you were and the wonderful life we lived together. You deserve that. But right now, I’m just too sad. Maybe one day, when I’m more prepared.

I know our 13 years together are more important than your last moments but it doesn’t make this pain any less real.
I know you wouldn’t understand but that doesn’t make me understand it any better.
I know you wouldn’t want me to hurt, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less.
I know I gave you a great life but it doesn’t make this guilt fade away.
It wasn’t supposed to happen like this.

DESPERATELY SEEKING A FOSTER for Shrek and Fiona 🩵🩷

Their foster goes out of town soon and we’ve reached out to multiple rescues and been desperately searching for a new foster to take them in with no luck. If you could consider fostering these guys for a week PLEASE MESSAGE ME!! Could be a great project for a kid home for the summer or if you want to see if your family is ready for a dog without the commitment of actually adopting. I own a training business called Wise Tails Academy and can also offer some free lessons to whoever adopts as well as discounted future boarding.

4 weeks ago someone posted in Friends of Spicewood about witnessing a litter of 4 week old puppies being abandoned in a Walmart parking lot 💔 Some friends and I stepped in to try and save these babies but they were in rough shape and unfortunately one died the first night they were rescued. After multiple vet visits, a couple rounds of dewormer and their first round of vaccines given two weeks ago these sweet souls are healthy and ready for their forever homes!
